Description

A Place in the Sun, an old Florida style stilt home, was completely remodeled and redecorated in 2006 with new upscale furnishings, flooring, kitchen and bathrooms. Our beach house is situated on the inland of Pine Island on a canal overlooking the marsh and bay. The great room, decorated in Tommy Bahama style, has a wood burning fireplace for cool winter nights and a wet bar with an icemaker. The kitchen and dining area open to a large screened porch with a small dining table and seating area. Views of the bay and marsh are some of the most spectacular views of natural Florida you could ever wish to see. The master bedroom is like a Carribean villa with its comfortable rattan bed and fine linens. A balcony off the master suite is perfect for watching the sunrise, reading during the day, or stargazing at night. The master bath has a shower and the hall bath has a tub. Two other bedrooms have queen beds and are tastefully decorated for your guests' comfort and pleasure. All bedrooms have ceiling fans. Relax in the porch swing on the front porch or go downstairs to lounge in the hammock or enjoy the screened room with a large bar, TV, refrigerator, half bath and dining table. Listen to Jimmy Buffet or your own favorites on the speakers connected to the upstairs stereo. A dock and a 120 foot seawall are great for fishing. Our family has caught redfish and snook and many smaller fish just for fun. The floating dock in the side yard is convenient for tying up the kayaks or docking a boat. Local guides can take you to catch grouper offshore or trout and redfish inshore. In the late spring or early summer, you can book a guide for world class tarpon fishing. Walk just mile to Alfred McKethan Park with its beautiful white sand beach and enjoy a 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' at Willy's Tropical Breeze Caf. Just across the street from the house is a small private beach perfect for sunbathing or watching the amazing Florida sunsets.Wildlife abounds. Great blue herons and white herons are frequent visitors to our docks and seawalls. Eagles and ospreys nest in the area as well as numerous other species of birds. Dolphin and manatees occasionally swim through the canal behind the house. The island even has a few resident peacocks. A Place in the Sun is perfect for a couple or family who would like to enjoy the natural beauty of Florida
