My son graduated from VVMS and he had great teachers overall. There's always a few teachers that aren't as involved at any school, but I was able to speak to the teachers when I needed to and they responded in a reasonable amount of time to my questions. Dr. Gates was a great principal for his 6th/7tj grade and we were sad to see her leave VVMS but she moved up in the district to help more students which is great. She greeted everyone anytime she saw them and was super friendly. As for the current principal, his weekly emails are up to date, however, I'm not sure how involved he is on a day to day basis as my son didn't need to see him. I do think they could do better with giving better advance notice in general especially for graduation. The school building is only 3 yrs old and the campus is nice and clean. According to my son, the food isn't bad, of course it is a school cafeteria, so don't have high expectations. I have heard of some bullying issues, but I've heard them at other schools that are supposedly really good. I highly recommend attending school visits. We attended VVMS parent meeting when my son was in 5th grade, so that we could ask all the questions we wanted and get a feel of things.

I love this school when I came to live here four years ago, I was welcomed, and my kids were welcomed. They all had a great experience. Principles and teachers are well connected with the kids.

It’s been incredible for both of my children. It’s small so the teachers and other staff are very involved with the kids. It’s diverse and encourages acceptance of others. Good programs such as IB and plenty of AP classes. Those that don’t fit into the high achieving academic group are not left behind. Everyone can find their niche. I know of many kids this year that we’re accepted at very reputable colleges such as Berkeley, UCLA and many others. I’m very happy that my children are at Ocean View
