Description

Classic Elegance, 163 Maple Street -- Premier Prospect Lefferts Gardens Address

Your chance to own a piece of history: this beautiful Limestone in landmarked Lefferts Manor has all the well preserved original details mixed tastefully with modern conveniences and mechanical updates -- an ideal home for you and yours.

Designed by the famed architect Axel Hedman in a classic neo-renaissance style, the layout is an exceptional example of the partially open concept: the entry hall leads past the spacious front parlor and opens up to a Grand central sitting room featuring original raised oak paneling and exquisite flooring. This design allows you to see outdoors from any point, and combined with the high ceilings and large windows, invites light and air to permeate throughout. The feeling is a very unique experience in row house living. Past the sitting room is a formal dining room with more of the well-preserved old-world finishes-- coffered ceiling, raised paneling, parquet flooring, a stunning bespoke wood mantle with hand tossed porcelain tiles-- plus a wonderful view overlooking the flowered backyard. A thoroughly modern and smartly designed kitchen is here as well, its custom-made Cherrywood cabinets and stone counters dovetailing well with the original design. Again, the outside is invited in through two large windows allowing views of the manicured landscape in your private garden. Topping off the first floor, a darling half bath is tucked neatly away for your convenience.

Up the oak staircase is more of the same, with the original stained-glass skylight brightening the way. The Master Bedroom features a decorative antique mantel with flowered chain ornamentation and has three large windows overlooking the flowered garden. The en suite bath is here, an homage to the original design featuring marble floors, a custom tiled shower and oversized vanity. An ancillary room is through another door and can be converted into a dream walk-in closet or kept as a bedroom. The main bath is down the hall, and it keeps with the style as well --mosaic marble floors, subway tile surround on the bath/shower installation, a marble mesa vanity, and a modern Toto toilet with European style bidet system. The front bedroom is King-sized and features a walk in closet with original breakfront cabinetry and its own bay window with treetop views. The 4th bedroom is next door, ready to be converted to a home office or guest suite --you choose!

Underneath it all is a full basement with 8-foot ceilings, another full bath and laundry. With casement windows allowing natural sunlight in, it's the perfect place for the game room, family playroom or workshop. There's plenty of room for bike storage, and with an entrance leading to the front, there's an ideal area for a mudroom allowing you to keep muddy shoes, dirty sleds and snow-covered boots from the main living area.

As mentioned, the location is ideal -- Maple Street is considered to be the premier street in PLG when it comes to architecture and cityscapes. Beautifully tree-lined, it is located near to everything the residents of historic Lefferts Manor crave: Pels Pies, Midwood Flats, Ix Latin American, PLG Coffee, Silver Rice and Bay Leaf are but a few of the world class eateries within three blocks. For those looking to commune with nature, the newly reopened Southern Gate to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens is right there as is Prospect Park. Commuting is a snap: both the Prospect Park Subway Station (B, S and Q trains) and Winthrop Station (2, 5) are less than four blocks.

Prospect Lefferts Gardens has been called the "last affordable neighborhood with park views." This is your chance to own a piece of history. Call for a showing today.

"It is a Decent commute, everything is within 15 minutes to 1 hour. There is a bus on most routes and a way to get to a subway station to be able to get to your destination. When it comes to transportation this borough has the most transportation by far. "

"Proximity to all means of transportation bus trains and taxi service, Prospect park facility availability is better hop skip and a jump , traffic is a bit crowded at times everybody busy to go in the same direction nowhere . Proximity to the local hospital kings County about a five minute walk up all three minute drive depending on traffic although also Barclay center is about 10 minutes by bus"
  • Trulia User
"nothing much, we come together and have fun and everyone is security conscious, and we look out for our neighbors at all time "
  • Lareeree
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood directly facing Prospect Park for 12 years. The neighborhood has wonderful attributes with access to the park, Botanical Garden, Zoo, library and museum being very high on the list. Many aspects of the neighborhood have deteriorated as well. The entrance to the park area has crime, homelessness, littering and over crowding in the warmer months. We are leaving this neighborhood after suffering many of these issues. Mainly our dog has become very anxious because of all-night sound and fireworks throughout the summer nights. If you have no dog and no young babies it is worth checking out."
  • Patrick O.
"Difficult to say I don't own a dog, but the proximity to Prospect Park I assume would be a plus for 🐕 owners."
  • Juanluisarias
"I think that this is a good place and friendly , nice , safe to go to the park and good for the kids growing up and the is so kind and good"

  • Shantel F.
"I've lived here for 3 years and the area has really grown on me every thing is so close by and convenient. stores, place's to eat, and transportation. "

"I've lived in this area for more then 45 years and I love it here. the community has changed over the years but just so quiet and peaceful here it like living in the suburbs. the park and the beautiful changes you see, all the season's from the first snow fall to the changes of the leaves its so beautiful in my neighborhood. would leave this area for no one.
