8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHad two boys go through LC, terrific academic school. Great athletic programs, but should compete better due to numbers and socioeconomic level. Both boys took numerous AP classes and participated in numerous varsity sports. I’m sorry to say that the principal has two standards of discipline for the students, he has one standard for black students (enabling) and another standard for the rest of students. LC has a very diverse economic and racial enrollment. LC does not have a racial or violence problem, but does have a culture problem. LC also has a very strong alumni support group due to its 100+ years.Parent Review2y ago7 Reviews - Roosevelt Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter really enjoyed this school. She went there with pleasure. We are a family that came from Ukraine. My daughter did not speak English at all. Thanks to the teachers, and especially the kindergarten teacher Miss Kuzel and her assistants, our daughter is now fluent in English. She was able to catch up with her peers in her studies and graduated from kindergarten with good results. Teacher feedback is a separate respect. Miss Kuzel is very attentive and caring. I am very grateful to the teachers and office workers for the work done.Parent Review2y ago22 Reviews - Sacajawea Middle School

"My neighborhood has great access to public transit, and is only 7 min from downtown. It’s walkable and has a wonderful variety of coffee shops, restaurants, and parks within a short distance. "

"People are friendly. The place has completely de eloped and it continues to grow. There’s a close night market as well once a week."

"There are children around but only by necessity as rent is very cheap here. It is absolutely not friendly, one of the most dangerous areas in Spokane. Prolific trash and dumping, as well as a very heavy homeless population. There are obvious signs of drug use, as well as public drug use sightings increasing. People drive extremely fast and recklessly depending on the road. Not a place for children."

"There are a lot of dogs here. Some people clean up after their dogs. Some dogs are loose because of homeless population. Not a family friendly area."

"This neighborhood has a great mix of young and old, families and single folks. You are close to downtown without any of the drawbacks of being downtown. "

"This neighborhood is centrally located and culturally diverse. ours had a rough history that it seems to be outgrowing in the two years I've lived here."

"Can be questionable at night because we are so close to the freeway, but lots of kids in the neighborhood and a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. "

"Up-and-Coming area. Noticing daily, it seems like there's more and more homes in the process of gentrification, or a new family is moving in. There are some really great folks who live in the area. Excited to see what East Central will look like in the next 3 years - in the mean time, I'm going to enjoy my life here."

"besides traffic, which I've mostly gotten used to, it's a very quiet neighborhood (at least on our street). I've heard mixed things about the area, but what seems to be most true is the fact that it really can change from street to street, like drastically (or so I hear). I did not grow up in Spokane, so I don't know every area, but I love where I live currently."

"East Central is very hit or miss, one block is nice, the next is really bad, and so on. There can be a lot of police activity depending on the street too."

"We’ve lived here for 16 years. We love the proximity to every convenience...downtown, hospitals, Perry St, parks, shopping etc. We’ve witnessed a big upturn in the neighborhood. Pride of ownership and friendly neighbors, enthusiasm about the area "

"I have lived in the South Perry District since 1996. I moved to Spokane from the Bay Area and I really love this area. It has the feel of downtown Berkley, and the comfort of May berry. I have 3 kids and it has been a great area to raise my kids. Our neighbors are great. We take walks throughout neighborhood and love seeing our neighbors out and about. Great place to raise a family."
