9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSince September of this year my third grader has been assaulted almost everyday by two students in his class. They are troublemakers in general, but the abuse of my child in particular has gotten out of hand. This has been escalated up to the superintendent, and has yet to be resolved. I’ve gotten nothing but excuses from the school about why these students can’t be removed from his class, and why they can’t keep him safe. In addition to that, the school is not responsive to my son’s outside counselor. I signed the release for them to work with her, but they won’t return her calls. If your child tends to be a target, they won’t help. I have been advised that it will take a lawsuit to get any real change. So, that is where this is headed. That’s money out of our own pockets on top of the ridiculous property taxes we’re already paying to make this school actually do their job. Do not recommend.Other Review2y ago11 Reviews - Hawthorn Middle School North

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLibertyville High School could have provided me with a better education but was better than Oak Grove Elementary School.Students are not supported & LHS does not prepare students for college and the real world. Most teachers are not willing to help students learn. Teaching is just a job to them. Many couldn't meet with students before or after school. Many cared more about getting home to their families than staying after school to help students. Many teachers focus on sports over academics and small talk over learning, which affects education, quality & meant that I had to self teach.Counselors don't encourage students to reach their full potential. They focus on emotional well being at the expense of academic achievement.Career counselor told me to aim lower and apply to less selective colleges. Not taking her advice was one of the best decisions I ever made.LHS has no standing with selective schools, the career center person told me colleges declined to visit LHS.Students who say in the reviews that the same kids are chosen for everything are right, LHS is very insular. At least I had a few caring teachers and this place wasn’t as bad as my elementary / middle school: Oak Grove Elementary School.Other Review9mo ago18 Reviews - Vernon Hills High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a student here and I have to say I love it here. The school has a little bit of bullying and discrimination as it is very hard to not have any at all but they handle way better than any other school I have been to. The teachers here are amazing: so kind, respectful, helpful, and caring! It is a great school and I really enjoy it.Student Review7mo ago7 Reviews - Hawthorn School for Young Learners

"Dogs are allowed but not necessarily encouraged. Be aware of a strict limit on the weight and size of your dog. HOA will assess a monthly fee for any non-compliance. Agents should have disclosed relevant HOA rules and regulations prior to my purchase. Otherwise, I loved living here, my beautiful home and all my neighbors."

"What I think is important for parents to know is that by far Libertyville, Copeland and Roundabout school districts are amazing and the educational programs exceeds the surrounding other schools. The neighborhoods are safe and everyone knows everyone so the kids always have a safe haven if ever needed. "

"My neighborhood is walking distance to the Metra train station that heads to Chicago Union Station. Getting to the city is simple on a one hour train ride. Also there is a Bus stop one block from my house. Overall the commute from Libertyville to local suburbs or on public transit (train) to the City of Chicago. "

"There is a block party almost every year. For Halloween, we have a little parade before Halloween where kids wear their costumes and follow a car around the neighborhood. Also Easter time, the weekend of Easter, there is a Easter Egg Hunt for the little kids. Also my neighborhood is very nice, outgoing, and talkative to others (always waving, saying hello on sidewalks, etc). Also the neighborhood is extremely safe with stop signs, yield, etc. This is all what makes Libertyville a great community. "
