I never liked this school but after a year I realized it wasn't really the school that was bad. It's the kids that are bad. The teachers that I know are great and always willing to help students. If you have a problem and go talk to the principal or dean in the school, they do their best to resolve the issue. There is not much that staff and teachers can do to change kids' behavior. That is entirely up to the kids and their parents to change their behavior. Teachers get cursed at, disrespected, and kids roaming the halls will constantly bang on their room doors disrupting their lessons. Yes, kids do get bullied, BY KIDS who were never taught how to treat another human being with respect!! I've asked other schools if they offer some of the programs that 27 has and they don't! They have a lot of opportunities for the kids, if only they put their energy and focus into being educated. The teachers are already doing their part--and more, its time the kids stepped up to their responsibilities as humans and students of the school. Not to say all students are bad, there are some very amazing students there as well.All in all, it's really easy to blame the school and staff but if people started taking responsibility to teach their kids manners and respect, the school would be a much better and safer place.

I am a graduate of PS29. I have nothing but fond memories of the school. I was t here during my formulation years and was well prepared for my future studies. While not a great student, I learned how to apply myself and take control. I have done well in life and now look back on my time there and smile. By the way, I am a 1961 graduate!

This school has come a long way over the years. After building a whole new art wing section to the school I feel it really tuned the school around to become one of the top HS in Staten Island
