5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAt first when I applied to this school, I thought it would be an amazing school. I was mistaken. This school is not what you’d expect it to be. You think oh, since you have to take a test to go to this school then the academics / students must be sort of good right? WRONG. It is the complete opposite. Some teachers are not that good at teaching. I have had quite a few teachers who would just camp at their desks on their laptops / phones. It’s okay if it’s only a few times, but no they do that most of the time. I’m pretty sure they can do better than that. And I’m not sure who is in charge of admissions, but either they’re bad at picking or the quality of students is that bad. Also, the administration makes really weird choices that doesn’t benefit anyone and is just a hassle to deal with. I highly recommend that you do not go to this school.Student Review4mo ago6 Reviews - Ps 17

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWow. What a ride it was. Let me lay down MULTIPLE experiences I am having here currently or have had here previously:*A student — who is of the African American race, please ensure that you remember this — play fought with another African American student, and the both of them were almost formalled, a term meaning to be suspended from school for 60 days. Now, let's take a look at the experiences of the Caucasian students. Two Caucasian boys had play fought, and they received mere lunch detention. *Another student of the African American race had violated the dress code due to wearing crocs, and was given in-school suspension for 3 days. However, another Caucasian student did this and was only given a warning and provided different shoes to change into. Seeing any patterns yet? *One of the last significant race-related events I can recall at the moment is when an African American girl and a Caucasian girl had worn V-neck shirts. The African American girl had been given a stern talking to, whilst the Caucasian girl had not an eye bat her way. How odd, don't you think? It may also be important to note that the Caucasian girl wore V-necks more than any other shirts, so the excuse of "Oh, they didn't see it!" cannot be used in a valid sense. *In a science project, we were instructed to swab out areas of the school and allow it to grow on an enclosed beet. One group selected the cafeteria vents to swab. Days later, after executing this process, the group went over to examine their beet and found that, unlike the other groups that simply grew mold, their beet had grown veins. Looking back upon this event, the fungus grown may have been rhodotus. *One Friday some years ago, a student was caught with a vape hiding in her bra. This led to a chain reaction of the teachers locating a number of between 13 to 16 vapes, all within a 6th grade homeroom of 25. It later came to my attention that there were even MORE students in this single homeroom with vapes, however they managed to hide them better than the others and hadn't gotten ratted out by a peer. There are MANY more events I could converse of, however I am nearly at the character limit and by reading the guidelines, I do not believe it to be possible to submit a second review. So, when choosing a school for your precious child to attend, I hope that you can choose wisely. God, I cannot wait to graduate.Student Review11mo ago4 Reviews - International School

We love the fact that all students — even PreK! — get to take Dance, Music, Theater and Art as specials. Communication from the school has been phenomenal. Can’t say enough good things.Parent Review6mo ago4 Reviews - Ps 65 Roosevelt Academy

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school from 2013-2018 and I genuinely didn't like it. The students were cruel, and while some of the teachers were nice, most of my experiences were not amazing. I was bullied, pushed away, and eventually had to beg my mom to send me to a different school so I didn't feel like i was the odd one out. If you didn't come from a high end family, or didn't have friends, you were immediately singled out, no matter what your situation was. I can only hope that the school improves with the new principal, but I lost my hope when I left. Don't send your kids here.Other Review2mo ago8 Reviews - Ps 74 Hamlin Park Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a very bad school. There was a lot of fights and drama at this school when I was there. In the classroom , kids will be EXTREMELY loud and do bad things. You can't focus in the classroom and the teacher will waste time trying to make them quiet. Also, most classes are like super easy to pass like there was little hard work, in ela we would just read books and answer like super simple questions, and they had only a few tests and quiz and they were super easy to get a good grade on it, and in science I always get full points unless I didn't finish the work. In math it's just copy what the math teacher is writing on the board and zearn and moby max, and a few castle learning not that hard. And in spanish the teacher gives you the answer for all the work and even homework !! Social studies has to be the hardest class but was still not hard! The teacher only gives you grade for tests. The tests you could easily pass. You only had to study for the 4th quarter only but the other quarters you could use your learning activities so it was not really difficult and still 4th quarter test was easy as long as you studied.Other Review1y ago6 Reviews - Harvey Austin School 97

"This area is the best kept secret in Buffalo. Seven minutes from downtown, great parks, virtually no traffic with malls and shopping all within 10 minutes driving. Mercy Hospital within walking distance. New waterfront development with beach only 5 minutes away. Skiing is only 15-20 minutes. Immediately feels like home. Wonderful neighbors who would love to welcome owner occupy as the majority of the nearby homes are. People in this neighborhood care."
