Good academics program all around. The classes prepare the kids for high school well and have substance to them. The building being remodeled is a great upgrade because it was becoming outdated. Sports teams are well developed and help mold them into the athletics programs if that is what they choose to do.

When I attended Wapak High School (class of 2007), the class sizes were small which made for a better learning experience. They also had many programs available to get a jump start on college credits, like their wide range of AP courses and their program to attend the Lima OSU branch for coursework. This was the most positive part of my experience. When I started college at ONU after graduation I had an advantage over many of my peers and received credits for coursework I would otherwise need to take because of my AP courses.

I am a parent who has volunteered in my daughter's classroom over the past couple of years at Wapak Elementary - last year as a volunteer to help develop math skills with the kids. There were other parents directly involved in teaching the kids as well, and the teachers usually did a good job of scheduling their volunteers. I have been impressed with each of her teacher's effective use of time; the kids seemed to be kept on task throughout the day, and were constantly challenged at an appropriate level. As a dad who wants to be involved in my child's education, my participation was warmly accepted. I was afforded the opportunity to assist on a number of occasions in which I worked with the kids one-on-one or in small groups. In each case, the teacher had spent some time preparing assigned activities, which supported the learning material, for me to facilitate. I was able to serve in a way that clearly made a difference in the lives of some of the kids, and wasn't just used as an office assistant. The school's staff appear to be mission-oriented, and, more importantly, my kid seems to be learning a lot! :)
