This school is absolutely awful. It is full of fake people who are awful at their core. Don’t even get me started on the administration either. They are the fakest of all. They are discriminatory and play favorites like you wouldn’t believe. If you want to be surrounded by fake, entitled, and nasty people then this is the place for you. I recommend staying far, far away from this place.

This school is wonderful! The administration, faculty, and staff are communicative, approachable, and balance learning and social development appropriately just as things should be at this age. We are grateful for the experiences and learning opportunities provided at Prairie School.

My son is finishing 7th grade at Jerling in June. He struggled this year, for the first time ever, in 3 subjects. He is a smart kid and has always gotten excellent grades in school. He says this year was really overwhelming when it came to all the content he was learning in all classes, and the new letter grading system. I like the letter grading, versus the 1-4 grading system. By 6th grade, kids need to know letter/ percentage grading. He rarely gets homework, with the exception of math. I wish the kids would get more homework, to be honest. I think it helps to reinforce independent learning and recall of what was taught in class. He has never had more than 30 minutes of homework in 7th grade. His Math teacher reached out to us when our son had missing assignments, which i greatly appreciated. Parents can view students grades anytime they want. There is also a " digital planner" where all the teachers post the homework and tests happening each week, for students use as well as parents. My son doesn't "love" school, but I don't know any 13 y/o's that do! One thing I disapprove of is each teacher has their own policy on missing and late assignments. Some teachers take 10% off each day and assignment is late, but will accept them. Others will not accept an assignment more than 1-2 days late, and student gets a zero. Some teachers ( ex. MATH) allow students to retake quizzes and tests one time during their lunch break, if they score a 70% or less. Others do not allow any retakes. This is very hard to follow when you have more than one child!! The curriculum is difficult , but not impossible. I want my kids to be challenged to prepare themselves for high school and college. School is not supposed to be easy! I have had no issues or concerns with the principal or assistant principal. They seem dedicated to the students and school. Overall, yes I would recommend this school to others.

I moved to Orland Park because of their great school district. I’m proud to say both of my sons have graduated are attend their respective universities. The faculty is great to work with and resources are readily available for students.
