My nephew attended this school last year and this year. I'm appalled with the neglect that the staff displays. Bullying is ignored, cries for help pushed to the side. Staff makes homophobic comments and participates in gender inequality. Victims are blamed when they come forward and gun threats are dismissed. When confronted, they change their story and attempt to gaslight parents and children, all to try and protect themselves. Children are blamed in order to protect the reputation of teachers and the school. This school is mentally abusive and the school board does nothing.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience at DeRidder High School (DHS). From the moment I stepped foot on campus, I knew I was in a place that truly cared about my academic and personal growth. The staff at DHS High School went above and beyond to ensure that I was prepared for college, providing me with the resources and support needed to succeed in higher education.Not only did the teachers and counselors at DHS help me navigate the college application process, but they also challenged me to think critically and push myself outside of my comfort zone. Thanks to their dedication and guidance, I felt confident and prepared when it came time to transition to college. One of the most valuable aspects of attending DHS was the incredible network of alumni that I was able to connect with. Through various networking events and mentorship programs, I was able to build relationships with current and past alumni who offered invaluable advice and support as I navigated my post-secondary education and career path. Overall, DHS not only provided me with a top-notch education but also instilled in me a sense of community and support that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I am forever grateful for the amazing staff and network of alumni that made my time at DHS truly unforgettable.

Students have a chance to excel in academics and lots of extracurricular activities. Fort Polk provides resources through Army Once Source or Army Community services to assist with deployment. The Staff at Deridder High treats our kids like family. There are lots of opportunities to travel throughout Southwest Louisiana to support the kids and the Deridder Dragons have great spirit.

They make you wait outside in 31° weather to make you go through a broken metal detector that doesn't even detect the metals in a gun or other weapon

This is by far my favorite school in this area. I have had 2 kids go to this school. The teachers and faculty are knowledgable, engaging, compassionate, nurturing, and professional.
