When I was attending, I learned about things unrelated to actual life skills . I commend the social workers for trying to get students to be present. If parents are involved in their childrens learning and after school activities, progress is further than not being involved. Teachers seem to be picky about which students proceed by who they favor more. Surprisingly enough I was failing my computer class until I helped the teacher that was being made fun of from a student, changed from unfavorable to passing grade. Having a double period on top of having to eat lunch in the same classroom for a combined 3 periods was unbearable, only had peanut butter and jelly, no other option. More like detention. With a teacher who called the police because I had a cigarette fall on the floor in front of her. I was given a ticket and had to pay a fine. Ended up dropping out from the everyday anxiety. With a better support system I'm sure it would have been possible to at least complete my sophomore year. I wasn't even present enough to remember my locker combination. Give something worthy of learning for kids to really thrive throughout life. Like financial assistance, the stock market, mortgages. Instead of regurgitated math equations and pilgrims feeding native Americans. Hindsight is 20/20

Overall we’ve had a positive experience at Kerkstra. The teachers, principal and support staff are all very helpful and work well as a team to foster the student’s growth. My child has been challenged and supported throughout his time at Kerkstra. The rating definitely reflects the education your child will get if they attend.

This nasty, extremely unpleasant, arrogant, and hostile school is one of the worst environments I have ever experienced. The lack of discipline, accountability, and basic respect is unacceptable!This school is highly disrespectful, and I witnessed behavior from some teachers that I felt was racist and discriminatory. Instead of addressing serious concerns, the administration seemed ignorant of the problems and failed to take meaningful action. Students deserve to be treated fairly and with respect, but that was not my experience here.The principal seems to believe it is acceptable to take away students' privileges without showing mercy or understanding, even when students have learned from their mistakes and are trying to improve!! Instead of encouraging growth and another chance, the administration often appears more focused on punishment than helping students succeed!!!!!

I am so thankful that my daughter was able to go to Ridge. Every single staff person I have encountered has been wonderful, it literally could not be a better kindergarten. I absolutely loved my daughter's kindergarten teacher! I really couldn't recommend this school enough.
