Description

The main floor is 2149 sq ft. with the front entrance leading into the Living/Dining area. This room is 26ft x 19 1/2ft with an 18ft cathedral ceiling. The master bedroom suite, the guest bath, the kitchen (11ftx23ft), and family room (20ftx24ft) are all accessible from the living/dining area. The three bedrooms upstairs are reached by the stairs off the entrance area. The large patio, 17x20, is accessible from both the living/dining and the family rooms.

Over 10,000 board feet of Western Red Cedar was used in the construction of this unique rustic home. The board and batten style used on the exterior walls and the vertical planking style used inside have produced many comments that this house resembles a rustic mountain lodge. The home is all-electric and is prepared for power outages with an electric circuit breaker panel wired to an outside plug for generator hook-up. The fireplace has a wood burning insert to provide heat for the entire house in the event of sustained power outages.

The downstairs master bedroom suite is over 450 sq ft with a 12x19.5 bedroom, a 14x18 L-shaped bath, and a 6x12 walk-in closet with over 18 feet of hanger rods and over 50 lineal feet of shelving for storage. Relax in the Jacuzzi tub or the 4ftx4ft shower with the glass block window for outside daylight. The toilet area is enclosed with its own quiet vent fan in addition to the super quiet heat/light/vent fan in front of the shower. The entire bath area floor is easy to clean ceramic tile.

The flooring in the living/dining, family room, and master bedroom is cushioned Pergo engineered hardwood laminate. The kitchen, pantry area, guest bath, family entrance, and the utility room has 12x12 ceramic tile flooring for easy cleaning.

Abundance of storage will delight everyone in the kitchen and adjacent pantry area. A new Whirlpool ceramic cook top and Whirlpool microwave hood vent compliments the Whirlpool dishwasher and Kenmore double oven. The extra long utility room, 5ftx16ft, handles a conventional washer and dryer in addition to space for another refrigerator and upright freezer

The upstairs area is 824 sq ft and has a landing overlooking the living/dining area. No. 2 bedroom, 12ftx20ft, features built-in desks on one end and double closets and built-in drawers on the other. No. 3 bedroom, 12ftx14ft, has an adjacent craft room with built-in cabinets. No. 4 bedroom, 10ftx11ft, has built-in bookshelves and a huge walk-in closet, 4ftx12ft, and could serve as a home office instead. A full bath, with enclosed toilet and bathing area, is accessible from both No. 2 and No. 3 bedrooms. Walk-in access to the attic storage area, 7ftx20ft, is from No.2 bedroom.

The outside pool is 18ftx36ft with a 4ft wide concrete area on the sides and 8ft wide area on each end. A wooden deck, 400 sq ft, extends on the shallow end and provides a relaxing view overlooking the ravine behind the pool.
The shop building, 19ftx50ft, is a custom built metal building with its own 2 1/2 ton HVAC unit. The 9ftx18ft door allows for oversize use.

A flowing creek runs through the west end of the property and abundant wildlife flourishes through the acreage. The mature hardwoods, 50 years plus, provide one of the most unique nature settings in north Louisiana.

In summary – Country Living with Urban Convenience.

"Good neighborhood, I’ve been in Ruston for about two and a half years. It’s a lot of college kids but parties aren’t rampant like you would think, they mostly happen in fraternity houses. Where I live is quiet and nice, with a lot of new construction. Roads are pretty bad but other than that it’s a nice place to live."
