3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy main problem is the teachers; some are good teachers, but it feels like some teachers don't care about their students, my last 7th grade math teacher was not very nice and didn't care if we failed or not, and some teachers are lazy and don't even try. A lot of substitutes they hire are not very good either. Classmates tend to be rude, and unless you act like them, they won't accept you or help you. The social worker does a good job at what they do, providing many helpful resources. Fights aren't common but still happen, and even after they are handled they always come back up.Student Review4mo ago6 Reviews - James Whitcomb Riley School 43

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a current 8th Grade student in this school, I love it. The style of schooling might not be for everyone but I really enjoy it. I've been here since kindergarten and loved everything from elementary to middle school. I'm mostly leaving this review as I've noticed some very negative reviews from years back when middle school was just developing. Now though the middle school is great with tons of amazing teachers. This school isn't for everybody but I would definitely recommend at least checking it out.Student Review3y ago13 Reviews - William Penn School 49

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has several bright points and also many challenges. I think the school does a really good job with providing a quality place to learn; many awesome teachers, some not as great, that's the way it would go at any school. The principal cares about the students and, in my experience, so do the teachers. Maybe it's not a 5/5, but it's also not a 1, so I want to balance it out.Other Review3y ago7 Reviews - Clarence Farrington School 61

"I’ve lived here for 13 years. Love the big city feel. Shawn Grove Park is great for the kids. You can walk to the library. More coffee places and restaurants have been popping up. It’s one of the best spots in Indy IMHO "

"There are lots of well maintained sidewalks that are ideal for dogs to walk on. There are not too many cars that drive down the streets between college and central, and central and Delaware. "

"Locally owned restaurants to meet other neighbors. We love walking to dinner or out for drinks. A quick Uber/lyft ride to popular downtown spots. Great neighborhood for running or walking your dog. Great seasonal events in nearby parks with live music and vendors. "

"This is a very kid friendly neighborhood. You’ll see children riding bikes with their parents & trying their hand at becoming young entrepreneurs with lemonade stands. All of the local eateries also cater to the kiddos. "

"There are great private schools for children of all ages around us. The sidewalks are always full of families walking dogs & pushing strollers with older children walking or riding along on their bikes. Parents have meet ups in the parks & our HOA has fantastic family activities including Easter egg hunts & we close down Talbott St during the 4th of July to watch the Indianapolis fireworks in the street.
