About this House

A magnificent home in the City of Youngstown, 1428 Cascade Drive is a locally desired unique drive-by adjacent to the Mill Creek and Idora neighborhoods. This English Tudor home was built in 1933 during the height of America's steel industry, during so, it became the fourth house built on Cascade Drive. A home that is seemingly modest yet boasts ample space and greenery; it is a gem of Mill Creek Park. This home provides an enhancement of the original English Tudor architecture and style that is still preserved today. Modern amenities have been added seamlessly to add a touch of ease to the classic elegance and sophistication of Youngstown wealth. This home is a true masterpiece and it is extremely affordable. Once you personally experience this home you'll understand why many driving onlookers truly admire its beauty. As you approach the home, you are awed at the detail of the outdoor craftsmanship of the second floor rounded turret, and the brick and leaded glass windows. You may also be able to spot original the original quarry stone walkways planted and aligned over 80 years ago leading up to the front door and mud room. The spacious front yard hosts many species of flora including three 80+ foot oak trees originally planted at the building of this home in the early 1930s. English Ivy, pachysandra, hydrangea, mums, daffodils, sunflowers, and a whole garden of vegetables are just some yearly greenery to look forward to! In addition, the backyard hosts towering trees including maples, oak, redwoods, pines, all originally planted from the founders and settlers of Mill Creek Park, circa 1891.

The interior offers almost 1,700 square feet and 2 complete floors of living space. Solid oak and dark cherry wood lines the crown molding, baseboards, and wooden floors around the house, including the hallway staircase. The staircase handles are all hand-crafted featuring spindles detailed by hand to offer you a sense of refinement and style. Stucco plaster, original door hardware (including original door knockers, and door handles) original hardwood floors, chandeliers, crown molding, working in-wall telephone and speaker operations, and one gas fireplace sits in the living room. As you make your way around this incredible home, each room becomes easily accessible to the next. This home offers 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. It has a modern renovated kitchen (2004) including breakfast nook, lots of closets and built-ins, a study, and antique cedar closets. There is a laundry chute connected throughout the home for easy access to the basement and laundry cleanup. All of the walls have been repainted (2007, 2014, 2015, respectively) professionally to mimic classic themes, motifs, textures, colors, and styles of the homes era that not only matches the exterior paint and style but the interior furniture and wooden craftsmanship. The dining room or "crystal room" boasts 2 wooden build-ins encased by glass. The addition (sunroom) was added on from the living room and is built on top of the garage which allows for a glorious view of our curbed driveway, backyard, and pool. As of July, 2016, a new roof has been installed and the original hardwood floors have been resumed, and restrained.

An attached two car garage including a handmade stone and brick wall add both privacy, aesthetic, and security. Two sides of the home offer 270 degree security motion detection lights for safety. The outdoor attachment patio leads you to the backyard where a secluded above ground heated pool welcomes you for a dip in a refreshing and relaxing getaway. The backyard also provides you with a gorgeous and breathtaking view of the historic Mill Creek Park. The nature of the original tall oaks add shade, security, and enhance the thought-out regality to this homes foundation.

"I see people walking their dogs all the time, and Millcreek park is very nearby. The yards in this area are a little bigger as well. There is a good amount of traffic on some of the more used streets, and people like to set off fireworks around the holidays. "
