Very heavy on outdated practices like "behavior charts" (which have been proven to be harmful long term) and leading by fear. Unfortunately these practices have all been shown to lead to slower learning, childhood depression, bullying amongst peers, and creating a hostile environment in which children feel unsafe. We witnessed all of these things firsthand from the teacher level, all the way through the principal. If you're looking for an modern educated staff who understands updated childhood development practices? This is not the school for you.

My child went to this school for K-2. It was an excellent school with high expectations for student achievement. The teachers my child had were experienced and professional. We had 2 conferences a year and the teachers explained how my child was doing in school and backed it up with work samples. They set goals and worked to meet them. My child never had any problems with other kids. School was fun but they never took the focus off of learning. If you send your child to school here, they will learn how to read, write and do math and they will learn a lot of history and science as well. They do a really great job at this school.

The school board and those who hold higher positions only care about the money, and how the public sees them. They do not stand up for their staff in appropriate situations, but will defend those with criminal records. They are constantly letting staff go, and now there are little to no opportunities that this school offers. I would recommend washougal or Columbia high school! NOT Stevenson.
