My husband and I are both NV alumni. Our child is currently enrolled, however we are seeking an alternative source of education. Our child is gifted academically and it's very discouraging to see him so bored in the classroom. He is blatantly discouraged from "trying too hard". I've been repeatedly asked by the teacher to stop teaching him extras at home because we need to keep all the kids in the classroom at the same level. There is such a high emphasis on sports, academics are an after thought. We do have amazing athletes, but at what cost? I've witnessed first hand athletes being "passed" in the classroom and not being held to the same standard as the rest of the class. (Often not required to complete work because they're "tired" or "stressed" because of an upcoming game.) I've watched these same children flounder and fail in college because they weren't prepared. Athletic programs are important, but academics should have a higher priority. For the success and growth of our own child, it's imperative we find a different school.

As a former student of North Vermillion, I WOULD NEVER SEND MY KIDS HERE. The staff does not care about education, they prioritize sports over absolutely everything. I knew kids who were tested and had disabilities but NEVER got the help they NEEDED, to this day some of them still struggle with their education. They offer no help to students who are gifted or advanced. They DO NOT prepare you for college AT ALL. In 2025, ZERO students passed their SAT. NONE OF THE STUDENTS PASSED. That just shows you how terrible the education is. Once you get into the town you will find yourself stuck in a endless loop and will have ZERO GOOD college opportunities. The bulling here is like no where else, the classes are so TOXIC that after graduating and moving away 2 years ago, I still have trouble trusting people. It will leave you emotional and educationally unprepared for real life. The teachers are untrained, have zero care for the students, and it is PROVEN that the teachers who are sent here have been laid off from other schools for not doing their job. Please if you are considering sending your child here, DO NOT. I cannot say this enough but this is a TERRIBLE SCHOOL.
