7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm giving it 5 stars despite everything since this school is very good for a public high school when it comes to academics. If you're looking for a public school that will help your child get into an amazing college this is the high school to go to. But with success also comes sacrifices. I went to an amazing college after going to Millard North but honestly that high school gives me flashbacks to some of the worst years of my life. For one, this school is not very progressive, like at all. The environment is harmful for students of color, lgbtq+, and even women because the sexism is quite visible in stem classes. Not to mention, the school also now has political clubs such as the "Millard North Republicans" which enable problematic students and creates a more hostile environment. I was severely bullied and isolated by many of my classmates throughout my later years of high school, specifically in the IB program, which by the way is absolutely useless. The school has major issues with class too, you will most likely not feel very welcome here as a low income student. The school is not helping for providing accommodations for students with disabilities such as ADHD because quite frankly a lot of the teachers are in a sense, ableist. Lastly, some of the teachers can make you feel unsafe. Don't stay alone with a teacher in any classroom and make sure to bring a classmate with you for afterschool help. Honestly its up to you to pick your poison, if you end up attending my advice would just be to really focus on your academics, and to choose activities that you are passionate about or interested in, avoid drama and try your best to hang on those 4 yrs.Other Review1y ago11 Reviews - Kiewit Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am an 8th grader here in Kiewit Middle School graduating in May. I have been at Kiewit since 6th grade so I would say that I am pretty experienced and know what I am talking about. I will begin by talking about learning. I have been in the top-level classes in all three of my years. These classes are challenging but doable with some help and effort. I gave it a 3/5 because although they don't do an amazing job of keeping the curriculum interesting, I can understand how keeping middle-schoolers interested in what they are learning can be challenging. With this being said though I still believe there is room for improvement and having a diverse array of teaching kids is important. As an example my current history teacher has us sit at our desks and listen to him talk. We have done this every single day except for the occasional video twice a month. This makes class extremely hard to sit through and very uninteresting. Next is teaching, I gave teaching a 2/5 because in my experience the teachers that I have had are quite bad. I have had my fair share of good teachers but they are vastly outnumbered. In Kiewit, you are bound to find self-righteous, selfish, and stubborn teachers. Man times teachers spend more time yelling than teaching. Then is social-emotional support. As a higher-level student, I have found that the sheer amount of homework can be very stressful and hard to manage. When telling a teacher they tell you that excuses are not acceptable and will most likely give you a speech about how this is unacceptable in high school. As for special education, I gave it a 3 but say much but I do know that there are specific classes for these people to learn in a safe environment. I also know that some people are exempt from all work and sit in a class and do nothing because they are "special". As for safety, I would say a 2/5. In Kiewit, you will find people who do, sell, and distribute drugs, vape, fight, and threaten fellow students and teachers. Kiewit, however, likes to prioritize people wearing their hoods or earbuds instead of these big problems. If Kiewit were to prioritize actual priorities it would be much safer. And lastly is family engagement. I will say that Kiewit does do a good job of keeping parents in the loop. From grades to behavior, it is easy for a parent to learn how their kids do in school. All in all, Kiewit is a solid school but I would still recommend other schools even in Millard Needless to say there is room for improvement.Student Review2y ago8 Reviews - Ezra Millard Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis administration at the school (front office) is poorly ran. This woman is not a natural born leader. She barks orders, instead of leads. The principal is a nightmare to work for as she is doesn't understand a community of teachers and grace when it comes to her employees. As far as how she handles students, I've seen 1st hand the unknowing, blatant, unaware racism she isn't aware she shows to specific students. This woman is data driven crazy woman who looks at students and staff as just numbers and never gets to really know her staff. However, Millard will not do anything because this woman is on her way out anyway (thank the lord). Be wary when sending your kid or applying to this school.Other Review4y ago4 Reviews - Check out schools near 13809 Patrick Ave.

"We’ve had a mixed experience living in this neighborhood. On the positive side, it’s a beautiful, established area with mature trees and a surprising amount of wildlife. There are also a few truly kind and welcoming neighbors who make a real effort to build community. That said, the overall environment can feel very tense. Some neighbors are quick to report minor issues, and there seems to be a strong focus on enforcement rather than communication. We’ve experienced situations where concerns were escalated to the city almost immediately, rather than neighbors talking directly with each other first. For example, after a storm knocked down a tree on our property, we received a notice to remove it within 30 days—but it was difficult to even get a tree service scheduled in that timeframe. Situations like that can feel frustrating, especially when you’re already dealing with unexpected damage. There have also been instances where notes were left rather than having a conversation, which can make the neighborhood feel less welcoming. Overall, it’s a visually lovely neighborhood, but the experience can depend heavily on neighbor interactions. For those considering moving here, it may be worth understanding the expectations and level of enforcement ahead of time."
