At this point, the children in this area are raising themselves, not studying, not caring, and they're being passed just to get them through school.

This school prioritizes its sports programs over education. I almost failed out of university because what I was told by this school I had learned (with A's to show for it), either wasn't learned or wasn't learned up to par with the rest of the students. I ended up having to learn a lot of math concepts I should have learned in high school on my own time while trying to complete engineering classes with barely passing grades. I learned after I graduated that the most beneficial programs to my future had been cut from the Shamokin Area High School Curriculum, likely due to cuts in state education funding. I learned from other college bound students that they also felt that their education at Shamokin Area High School did not adequately prepare them for a future. The facilities at this school are very good , and I can tell that the administration is probably trying to do the best they can with a lacking tax base and a lack of state funding, but I just wasn't prepared.

A great school is only as great as the stellar teachers within it's walls. I applaude the teachers
