This place is just genuinely terrible. Two years ago I walked into John Muir thinking 6th grade would be awesome. The result by the end of the year was me falling into depression. There are so many fights, kids getting bullied and constantly harassed, and the staff does nothing unless they like you. Special education students are bullied by the gen. ed students and yelled at my teachers. A special education girl was crying and the teacher yelled at her for acting like a baby. I have falsely gotten in trouble so many times at this school because i’m a “bad student”, even though i’m quiet in class and do all my work. There have been multiple shooting threats that left entire grades of kids crying and shaking outside the front office, waiting for their parents to come get them. John Muir middle school is literally Hell. Kids literally deal drugs and use them IN THE BATHROOM ON CAMPUS. PLEASE, PLEASE do not send your kids to this school. I don’t want any more children to go down the same path. I used to be a bright 6th grader ready to learn. Now i’m a burn out 8th grader who’s falling behind and barely understands school, my future is basically gone. I don’t believe I will graduate. John muir has changed my mentality to think only smart people will finish school. John muir makes me feel like an idiot. I’m constantly harassed for having ADHD and being gay. People will call me ableist or homophobic slurs nearly every day. People will bully me every day. No matter how hard I try getting them to stop, It’s never enough. Multiple kids will harm me just for fun. My finger has been sprained once on my own, and Re-Sprained 3 more times, all by the same kid, right before I was about to fully heal. Please don’t send your kids to John Muir. It has caused me so many mental health issues and declines, as well as falling behind with my schoolwork. I am severely depressed. I tried running away from home because then I wouldn’t need to go to school anymore. The school doesn’t handle anything correctly. Please don’t send your kids here, especially if they actually want to learn something and be successful. - Idiot who will never graduate.

Fantastic school! Amazing teachers, great range of resources for a public school, and sufficient advanced classes. I am a recent alum who is attending a top-20 private university and I am forever indebted to Pioneer High School.

Horrible principal acts like the school is hers and makes up her own rules. Does not follow nisd rules. My son’s teacher left mid year and they didn’t hire anyone else and had subs for half the year which made a horrible experience and my son didn’t get to learn a thing. They didn’t have a year book for purchase they were too lazy to make one since the receptionist said they did have the budget just no one wanted to make one. Take your kid elsewhere . Also during recess the kids are not being watched the teachers too busy talking and not paying attention where a kiddo was on the swings and ripped his finger right off and didn’t even know about it until another student had to run for help. So safety nope, learning environment nope , care about the students making memories nope. They fail all around. Principal is a dictator ask around the teachers will tell you.
