I do not understand this school, but I certainly now understand why the reading and math proficiency is less than 50% in Maryland. Here are the lowlights:* The classes are overcrowded (25+ per class)* They teach to the lowest common denominator. Meaning, if your kid gets a concept then they have to wait while the others catch up. During the waiting no real learning is going on. They do not divide up classes based on ability.* Discipline is baffling...but not surprising. If any kid has to get disciplines nothing is really done to eliminate the problem and the bad kid just gets either moved to a new class to continue to be disruptive or is given "restorative" discipline. Restorative means that they explain to the kid why you shouldn't hit someone and call them the N word...and then send them back to class. And give them chance after chance...meanwhile the well behaved kids end up suffering and the behavior continues.* Supervision during recess is almost non-existent and where the majority of the problems happen.

I had an awesome time at BHS. Years spent on the JV and then Varsity soccer team. Four years in the theatre and doing photography and tech and volunteering all over the place. I learned a great deal of things while attending classes and extracurricularly. Thanks to all of my wonderful teachers and friends!

A teacher call my daughter pathetic. The administration refused to do anything.
