Kids are vulgar and don't take their education seriously. Every other word I hear in the hallways are vulgar and inappropriate for a school environment. Cell phones are permitted, and it seems that is all the kids want to do. Even in class I see kids flip out their phones and text while the teacher is lecturing! There is absolutely no teacher-student respect, and when a teacher asks them to hand in their phones, they get defensive and refuse, and the teacher backs away! Some of the teachers are also lousy! They don't demand respect from their students and allow the kids to take control of the class. Thus is why the kids are so unruly. The curriculum is not demanding or challenging, and they are happy if you even graduate, barely passing courses. No academic motivation, no honors or AP courses... I was very disappointed at my first day of school. It is like night and day compared with Thatcher. The principal is nice and has a pleasant personality, but needs to take more control of his staff and students. I hope the school will improve their rules and help motivate their students in the future to make this school a better learning environment for the students to enjoy and flourish.

Please post when track hours are allowed. It is the only safe place nearby that I like to walk at, being a traveler. Was not trying to cause any alarm.

This is by far the worst school I have ever had to deal with. My son is in 6th grade and is very shy and quiet. Never had an issue with him in school. His second day he had a SPECAIL ED parapro tell him his whole class is already sick of him. This was the first time she had ever even met my son. The teacher got no reprimand and my son got called a liar. I sent him back for another day thinking maybe it was just a bad day. He then had a sub treat him very badly because he cant read or write. Which he has an IEP for. She then said she taught 4th grade the other day and in her opinion that's where he should be and pointed right at my son in front of the whole class. This also went without consequence. When I went to unenroll my son because of the poor treatment from the staff they already had a form filled out with his name on it. Do not send your kids here. The teachers bully the kids worse than the other kids do and they go unpunished. Save your child the humiliation and hurt my child had to experience.

We are pulling our student out and beginning homeschooling immediately following several issues (bullying/losing student) that have been ignored and some false claims (poor behavior on bus while student wasnt even in Safford) against our student. Public school is public school but Safford Unified needs a revamp; the whole environment seems unhealthy and is very frustrating.
