"Why we live in Maine: My family here reaches back to the founding of our Nation. My wife & I have been here the majority of our lives. Folks in these parts are very active in outdoor activities such as; boating, skiing, snowshoeing, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, rock/mineral hunting and photography just to name a few. Most folks here are honest, hard working & friendly with a hearty welcome to all those with similar qualities. You’ll see that most have a touch of the ‘laid back & down to earth’ qualities too; no, not lazy but knowing when to work & when & how to play. If we find ourselves in a traffic jam we don’t get upset but will often just smile knowing we can still see the first car & realize that our traffic jam is nothing like you’ll see in some of the other states. We live here because we want to, not because we have to. I often tell folks that want some peace & quiet in their lives that maybe they should consider coming to Maine for the REST of their lives. Could be just a long weekend now & then or maybe a week or two a year but if that fast paced, hair pulling life is wearing you out then maybe, just maybe, it’s time to experience the real greatness of Maine, found only as it should be; in the very heart of its pristine mountains, forests & any of its 5,000+ lakes, ponds, streams & rivers."
