3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a recent graduate of Seguin, I only have the best things to say. My teachers were incredible (except for a VERY select few which you’re going to find anywhere). I learned so many life lessons there and there was so many things to get involved in. I was in sports, student government, many clubs, and even piano. I also graduated with my Phlebotomy AND Certified Nursing Assistant certification because I went down the health track. Now that I am in college (Baylor University) I am so far ahead that I could graduate a semester to a year early because of the Dual Credit classes I was able to take at Seguin High School. I cannot possibly recommend this school and district enough. I have seen every side of this school, the good, the bad and the ugly and I would still choose to spend my school days there every time. I went to at least two different schools/districts (because of the military) before gathering the necessary paper work BY MYSELF in middle school because I wanted to transfer to Seguin so badly.Other Review1y ago13 Reviews - Jim Barnes Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI subbed for this school in 2024-2025 school year and the administration is more concerned about being friends with the students. I’ve personally heard him tell a student if they didn’t stop doing something they would get ISS. The student continued and the administrator just walked away and used the same lines on another student. No follow through. Now, I decided to sub again as it is a new year and hoped things would change. 2025-2026 school year. Same administration, same results. I had a student walk out of my class and they just returned him, just to walk out again. The same day I had a student not listen to my directions of putting their backpack in the back of the class (a school policy, not something I made up). So I called the office, per school instructions. By the time the admin came in the student put their bag where it should’ve been. So the admin looked at me and said well the bags in the corner I don’t need to be here. Not wanting to talk to the student and reinforce the rules and that they should be followed. The same day I had another class come in and spray perfume. I got an excruciating headache and the children wouldn’t be quiet. I called the office and they said they would send someone down. Suprise surprise, they didn’t. But I’m expected to stay in this class where the smell is and cover their class while I have this headache that won’t go away because the smell is lingering. I’m sure the student sprayed it on their desk, it lasted the whole day. I’m in tears and I will NEVER sub at this school again. My vision keeps blacking in and out because of my headache. This is so sad, and they wonder why there’s a shortage in teachers and now substitutes.Teacher Review4mo ago3 Reviews - Check out schools near 129 W Hampton Dr.

"That there is no dog park, it would be really nice. There is wuite a bit of grassy areas spread out so wouldnt need to go too far to let the dog out. Quiet are as well"

"Halloween is Big here. Outside of this there’s not a lot happening and all the original locals are moving and there’s more people moving in changing the area and it’s just not desirable. "

"I live right outside the city limits, but am a 15/20 minute drive from downtown seguin. 123 can get congested during morning and after work/school traffic, but that's everywhere. It's very easy to navigate throughout seguin. "

"Lackluster. There is little to no entertainment here. The biggest upside is being close to a variety of other cities. "

"Stay away from the charter school unless you want your kids to fall behind. Koennecke Elementary and Barnes Middle are the two best public schools. "

"My commute is very short with traffic leading into schools peaking for about a twenty minute stretch. The city is working on updating its underground water pipes, so there is some ongoing construction to avoid. "

"Very easy, light traffic. There usually is light to medium traffic in the morning. Afternoons are not very crowded either. The evening is the only time and I would still say there is only medium amount of traffic. "

"I really enjoyed living in this neighborhood. It was one of the first neighborhoods in Seguin to participate in the annual Neighborhood Night Out in October. Quiet area with convenient access to downtown and IH-10."

"I live here and work at home. I commute to Seguin, San Marcos, New Braunfels, and San Antonio on occasion...all within 20 minutes to an hour. Red Road is a fantastic neighborhood...the kind that is all too rare these days. All the people are down-home friendly, we all help each other out like old time neighbors did 50-60 years ago. LOTS and LOTS of peace and quiet, wildlife, seclusion. If you are addicted to traffic, noise, close social networking, constant stimulation, and mall-hopping this is not your kind of place. If you love nature and want to escape the stress and hassle of big city/urgan sprawl life...BINGO!!! Biggest issue with getting back and forth to Seguin is being careful to miss the deer...we are loaded with them. But learning to enjoy going slower is just part of the charm of this place. There are very few niches like this left where you can build whatever kind of home you like, have plenty of elbow room, and be right smack in the middle of a virgin forest with rolling hills and few roads. I've seen deer, turkeys, hogs, foxes, bobcats, coyotes, and usually get serenaded by great horned owls or whipporwills at night. You can clearly see the Milky Way on clear nights, along with a zillion stars. The Guadalupe River is only about ten miles north, Starcke Park is only 20 minutes and excellent with a huge playground, golf course, tennis and basketball courts, lots of tables right beside the river, fishing permitted, and a Wave Pool for those hot summer dog days. Seguin is not a cultural hot spot, but I've come to appreciate its quaint, humble style and off-the-beaten path feel. Schools are not the highest rating wise, but they offer a more personalized atmosphere and smaller classes. The only real drawback to Red Road and the Capote Hills in general is the isolation when you do need to make a trip to the city for whatever reason. But I've always found living here to more than make up for it."

"We've lived in this area for 16 yrs. A perfect place to raise children. Off the main road. Only a 15 min drive to Walmart, HEB, many restaurants. Rancher, farmer neighbors. Horse lovers dream."

"I've lived about two blocks from this house for eight years. I really wish it had been available when I bought mine. If I had the money I'd buy it in a heartbeat. One of the prettiest areas in Seguin, very quiet, about a mile to HEB, WalMart, etc. Back yard of this house is wonderful - very large and slopes all the way down to the creek. House does NOT flood - a consideration in this general area."
