I was a former student during the year 2023-2024 so very recent. these are my pros and cons being at this school since 1st grade. Pros I love the staff so much! the teachers I've had since 1st to 5th grade are very supportive, nice, understanding and I was able to get to have a really personal connection with each and every teacher there. I had a really deep connection with my middle school teachers which i would like to mention. unlike middle schools like Stephens, John Muir's middle school program called EDGE is much smaller. Which helped me a lot because of the smaller classes, helping me being able to focus and get the help I needed. In high school I struggle to even get B's but In middle school I was a straight A student. they help you lot's and the staff are willing to stay afterschool to help you with stuff you need help on. there are some teachers I would like to shout out. first off was my 7th and 8th math teacher Mrs. Conboy. She was known for being on the stricter side which of course my classmates didn't like. But she is the best math teacher I have EVEN had. she doesn't just hand you packets and expect you to figure out the material ourselves. we took hand written notes, she answered any questions and overall took her time with her teaching, meaning if the class wasn't ready she wasn't ready to have us continue with a test or the next unit. She made sure we understood EVERYTHING! Another teacher I would like to give a shout out is actually Mr. Conboy, Mrs. Conboy's husband. Mr. Conboy is the special education teacher which i did have a teachers aid class with him for 2 year which is an elective when you help teachers with things while there teaching, so i seen how he teaches that class. He of course went a slower pace but he made there learning fun and engaging! he was funny and the people In that class really enjoyed that class. Cons the school definably has more pros then cons but nothing about a school is perfect. first off it was kind of hard for me to get myself to school. not because I'm always sick or because I'm far from the school. but because of the people. the school does not have many black people there me being one of the hand full of them. and to get straight to the point. most of them are very racist. like why am i getting bullied because of my skin color? lots of them think its ok to say the n word and call me "monkey" and thinks like that. but there was a group of boys that would call me racist things in Spanish. it hurt.

Sadly, little has changed. My experience involved multiple incidents of the following behavior while I attended.Female teacher driving three girls somewhere after school. They see me and stop asking if I want a ride. The girls tell me how hot I am and how I should totally get in the car with them and they'd take care of me. With a doubtful shrug, I step towards the car. Girls scream, "oh my god go go go" and the teacher drives off laughingMy niece and nephew have had similar situations. My nephew was treated almost identically, while my niece was ridiculed for a miscalculated period.

Great school, most students are good actually, good programs.
