7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been at this school since kindergarten. I definitely believe your experience can be teacher dependent because like with most things some care and some just don’t. We have yet to be blessed with a teacher that really values her role as a teacher. I understand that teachers DO NOT get paid enough and do not have enough support. My expectation is to collaborate in my child’s learning especially if in the classrooms there is a lack of support for the teacher. However, there is a huge communication in regard to all things but most importantly my child’s education. From what I heard this did use to be a great school. I tried to give grace initially because I heard that things had changed but at this point they have just not gotten better. There are activities for parent engagement but the notice you get maybe about 48hours or less. So far with my child I get no real communication or information on what he is doing in school or how I can reinforce it at home. It’s not for lack of trying I ask questions and typically get no response or some type of deflection. Also this site says ratios are 1:12 which is false, they are typically 1:25 min. no matter the classroom, traditional, traditional inclusion, or Montessori classroom.Parent Review5mo ago64 Reviews - Druid Hills Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey really need to retrain the teachers at this school on how to handle behavior issues. If they aren't yelling at the students, then they are simply ignoring student bullying. Students are getting choked and hit and parents are NOT being notified. Teachers also carry out inappropriate conversations in front of students and nothing is done. Don't even get me started on whether special needs students are being served correctly. The assistant principal disciplined my child in front of the other students demanding the teacher call their parent, clearly not realizing they had an IEP and was on the spectrum. Communication is also A JOKE. Messages do not get responses from staff. We never know what is going on from day to day. Clubs get canceled and parents aren't told, resulting in my child sitting OUTSIDE for two hours waiting for parent pick up. NOT every child has a cell phone, parents should notified in some way. Teachers never know where students are at dismissal causing parents to have to wait and sometimes even having to pull in and park so they can go to the office to call for them. Students miss work and are failing and you would never know because you don't get any emails until grades are actually put in. So you have to constantly email the teachers and hope they respond to you with what is going on in your child's school career. Dekalb really needs to put a new principal in here and revamp communication, behavior, discipline, and school climate.Parent Review1mo ago40 Reviews - Check out schools near 1256 Hampton Park Rd.

"There are many dog owners in the area. Their dogs are cared for and on leashes when they go for walks. There are many walking trails and parks for families and their dogs to walk on. It’s a nice wooded area. "

"It’s a mixed neighborhood of single family homes and townhomes tucked away from major streets. It has plenty of sidewalks, a dog park, a large pool that goes 9 feet deep and an amazing clubhouse. It’s within walking distance of a long walking trail, but also super close to grocery stores & plenty of eateries."

"well I know they have a lot of dog parks here. I dont really know of anything people would dislike though. maybe that some owners dont know their dogs as well as they think and they think it's cute when their dog acts a fool and bc of that others have to suffer."

"A hidden gem of the Atlanta area. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful and neighbors are so friendly. It is a safe area and our neighbors really watch out for each other. People take care of their property and once spring hits it feels like you are at the botanical gardens. People are always out walking around and it’s nice to see the homes and landscaping with such character. Neighbors of all ages. I just had a baby and found a nice mom’s groups here. There is a park in the neighborhood with playground, pool and baseball fields. Peachtree creek path is walkable from anywhere in the neighborhood. We truly have everything we could ask for in a neighborhood and everything we need like grocery stores (Whole Foods 360), restaurants, shopping, salons etc just outside the neighborhood. Love, love, love it!!"

"I love Medlock Park Neighborhood. Beautiful neighborhood with such nice people. It is a safe neighborhood where you know your neighbors and people help each other out. Decorate for the holidays and even throw neighborhood parties. Great for families with baseball fields, a pool, and playground in Medlock park. The Peachtree creek path can’t be beat! Homes are unique and people grow beautiful gardens in their front yard. I do not have a single negative thing to say about the hood and I feel lucky to be a part of it. "
