3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was amazing until one person came along: the principal, Mr. Yom. Never in my life have I met a worse principal. He treats students poorly, lacks understanding, and is often rude. Berendo was always a school full of life and community. There were events, the staff cared about the students, and everyone was friendly. Unfortunately, the new principal has changed that atmosphere.Running a school like a dictatorship is immature, and it feels like his “efforts” are more about getting promoted than actually helping the school. He doesn’t seem to care about the staff or the students and instead focuses on pushing numbers that make him look better. Being a terrible person is not the same as being stern. For that reason, I would not recommend this school until there is a new principal. Aside from Mr. Yom, this is truly a beautiful school with a strong and supportive community where a child could thrive. I would still consider coming here, but I would hope that one day the one thing ruining it would finally leave.Parent Review3mo ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near 1237 Dewey Ave.

"There are lots of families in our area with kids and pets , and there’s plenty places to eat. Parking is hard to come by, and its pretty noisy throughout the day. Night time seems quiet enough unless there’s a party near by and you can hear the loud music or it’s the 4th of July so you will hear fire works almost through out the year randomly which is annoying if you have pets or babies. It’s not the cleanest of places so be careful where you walk there might be broken glass or feces from dogs, cats or even humans. "

"Very short commute but traffic does get a little heavy in the mornings around the school areas. Very central to a lot of neighboring cities. "

"the best part about this area that I've been in Bangladesh is they have Chateau party they have a lot of programs for children activity with the children such as baseball soccer basketball tennis and they fancy and I appreciate that so our children do have somewhere to go and socialize and achieve their goals that's the only thing in the last 20 years I've enjoyed in this neighborhood thank you"

"Lots of people have dogs. Some are very respectful of homeowners properties. Most are not. Very few actual dog parks. You have to drive to them rather than just walk. I am a dog lover but to be perfectly honest it's not a place I would like to raise a dog as a pet. "

"I’ve been in Koreatown for the past 10 years. I love the diversity of population and close proximity to a DTLA/Hollywood/Miracle Mile, and the food is delicious. But people do not pick up after their dogs and the homelessness is getting out of control."

"It’s centrally located and close to all areas of LA. Rents are still relatively low. Parking is absolutely awful. People are not neighborly and save street spaces daily when they have ample parking spaces in their lots. There’s very little neighborhood camaraderie. Bikes stolen frequently. Packages stolen so frequently it’s better to ship to an Amazon locker. My car has been broken into 3 times in 7 years. The only reason i stay is rent is so cheap for a huge space and it’s close to everything. "

"I love the diversity of Koreatown. I also love the walkability factor. I’m close to the metro so if I need to go to DTLA, it’s a 7 min subway ride. It’s possible to live without a car in LA if you live in Koreatown. "

"Gentrification and in-fill development has made this the fastest growing and most dense part of LA. Plethora of dining options and pubs/bars/clubs. More singles/couple oriented. Plans are being implemented to retain the Korean-American character. Some beautiful examples of architecture and stately buildings mixed in with modern and hodgepodge buildings. Closest thing to a walkable part of town with access to public transport aside from DTLA. Major homeless population is a big deterrent. "

"There is good diversity as far as restaurants in the area go. Other than that, the place is filling up with tents on sidewalks, as well as drunks passed out & rats running around. "
