This property was part of a larger parcel of land that belonged originally to the neighbor just to the west. However, during Prohibition, these folks were raided by the police for having an illegal still, for making alcohol. The land my house sits on was sold off to pay for court fee and fines. And 1211 on 3rd street, was nestled into the landscape and built on this parcel.
A truly special location, as the homes on each side and accross the street exhibit outstanding craftsmanship, and a drive down the street will prove that. We are honored and happy to own this beautiful home and to be part of the History of Brookings.
This city likes to tear down all the old houses to sell to SDSU or to build simple looking boxes called homes. In an era of poor quality components mixed with a lack of imagination in archetecture, this home and the neighbors homes are Priceless gems, never to be seen again historical value & craftsmanship.
