This is one beautiful old house. It was built in 1888 and was owned by Edward Galvin who came to the hills in 1881 to become manager of the Bloom Shoe and Clothing Co. An original photo of the home is near the front door. It was later owned by attorney Percy Helm. Most of the home's original grandeur remains including extra wide trim, gorgeous maple floors and glass topped doors plus a butlers pantry. With that said, many upgrades have been made including updated wiring and plumbing, newer cabinets and counter tops, etc. It has steel siding and the fascia is metal wrapped so most is maintenance free. The main level has a full bathroom with old claw foot tub and antique dresser vanity. Upstairs has a half bath and there is room to add a tub or shower. This home has been a beauty shop so plumbing was left if one wants to add 2 wash sinks. There is a ramp to the back door for accessibility

    "N/A everything is peaceful and people are generally polite. Never had an issue with anyone although there are people who speed through the neighborhood and sometimes are questionable people walking around, urinating in public sometimes. "

    "You see people walkintheir dogs and people walking to the store all the time! You can go into the store during the winter time and leave the heat running and your car won't be stolen! Very different from Florida's Tampa Bay Area! "

    "I love it here. Peaceful and quite quiet and neighbors are nice. Close to everything. There are a couple problem children, and there has been at least one theft that I am aware of and a mean dog.....other than that it’s a great place. "

    "When we moved to Sturgis we were welcomed by the neighbors so warmly we are great friends to this day. I love my neighborhood it is older but it is awesome. We have moved for my husbands job, but, we are keeping our home, so we rented it out to our neighbors family. We will be back. "
