In regards to WHS being concerned solely with sports programs, I believe the large and active FFA, drama, speech & debate and other organizations and activities debunk that myth. All teachers were willing to help a student if they were willing to work and ask for help. I have a suspicion the disgruntled parents giving poor ratings weren't involved in their (not there!) child's education and then were disappointed when the teachers couldn't suddenly provide enough extra credit or remedial support for their child when they found out a week before graduation they were failing.

It is unfortunate that the middle school in this town is so lacking. The high school and elementary schools seem to have figured out how to function and build up our young people, but the middle school has the same, if not worse, problems that it did when I attended. I recommend spending a little effort and doing a little research to find a way for your child/ren to not have to suffer through their most awkward years at this school. There are so many opportunities for improvement here. Hopefully they can move forward!

Although I recognize that public schools are obligated to rely on standardized testing for state and national funding, I feel that the smaller class sizes in this school (and in WY, in general) should offer children more opportunity for actual learning. Unfortunately, it seems that testing is the goal of the curriculum even in these rural facilities. South Side has some truly amazing teachers, but they are bound by state requirements that do not support individual growth or encourage creative learning for the children. There are no programs for the advanced students, and inadequate support for special needs kids.
