This is a great school, my daughter is in second grade and she loves it. The teacher is very dedicated and at home as parents we do our part. I don't know why there are bad reviews. Also, I think the race intelligence survey is silly. That has nothing to do with the color of a person. It seems to me a lack of respect, towards the other races, that obviously we already know who makes those surveys. Do not underestimate the IQ of each child because of their color. Although they are "based" on information obtained from the school.

This school is terrible. Many of their "teachers" aren't even qualified to teach. They have a shortage of teachers and funding so they place subs in permanent positions. Since they are not qualified to teach, all they do is yell at the kids. If you make a complaint against a teacher on behalf of your child, some of the teachers act like they're in a gang and will harass your student in class. Including calling the child out in the middle of class in front of everyone for doing so.

This school has repeatedly replaced its administration just for nothing to change. Rather than help the people who often fall into certain socioeconomic categories, they're ridiculed and bullied by their own teachers or administration. The past administration was ran mostly by 2 white people where they were constantly suspending and targeting the largely black population at our school. Rather than crack down on the vaping and other drugs, they would scour classrooms and ask for cell phones. The past assistant principal literally told my friend he'd be better off dropping out. The way they choose to implement rules just encourages the hostile environment rather than build a real community. Fighting is almost encouraged in an environment like this. Very few teachers actually taught their subjects well, it seemed many of them were there to hang out with children, relive high school and get paid to do it. Every decent teacher I knew has left that place, minus the band teacher and Spanish teachers. The teachers also aren't paid enough to deal with what they have to deal with, even choosing to work at a Title 1 school. Many of the staff are only there to get their loans paid off and they leave. They're forced into hiring young folks who often don't care about their job and plan on leaving as soon as possible. As shown by the statistics, enrollment drops at around 11-12th grade because there is virtually no support from the school. People would rather drop out and do the Get Real program through DDCC.
