10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Principal has been very receptive and always available to discuss our concerns. I visit the school at different times of the day throughout the year and I see his presence in the lunch room on the yard and in the school as a strong and positive influence on the school , it's students and the teaching staff. The PTA is involved and the school supports may different initiatives on behalf of BAM and the community.Parent Review7y ago18 Reviews - Berkeley High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school has great teachers and traditional education for the most part . My issue with the social aspect is that they don't have a dress code. I understand we are in Berkeley CA and there are nudists but that's different. They allow their girls to wear very tight daisy dukes that show not only the gluteos maximus but the genitals. This has been an ongoing going issue for almost ten years and I really don't understand why. I feel the students should be educated on why it's a bad idea. The students have off campus lunch and harass passer bys and spread what ever infections they have with those genitals shorts. Aside from this real big issue there are some ok teachers there that are trustworthyParent Review8mo ago15 Reviews - Martin Luther King Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageKing had been great so far. My kid has been enjoying their time there. The teachers are so responsive and quick when you have a concern. We were concerned with some things with my child and we told one of their teachers about it. The teacher and other staff members were so helpful and so responsive to our kid’s needs that it help them gain so much confidence at school during the year. They made getting my child support so easy and not stressful at all. King is just a great school with amazing teachers.Parent Review10mo ago5 Reviews - Sylvia Mendez Elementary

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePhenomenal school is every way. Diverse and welcome in learning community with high quality teachers in TK and K. My student has thrived here and I can’t wait to see what next school year brings. The after school staff really connected with my student and principal Hunt is a very dedicated. Don’t skip the potluck and movie nights as well as other school functions like back to school etc. they are so so worth it. Forgot to mention one of the best aspects, the specialists! My student has dance, garden, nutrition/ wellness, and art!Parent Review3y ago28 Reviews - Oxford Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had two kids in this school. One of them was severely traumatized, the other one fared better but was also not really happy. They have ZERO help for kids during recess. When there is a fight kids are told off, when there is bullying they rather victim blame than helping the child. The principal is old fashioned and loves teachers that yell at and punish kids. Group punishments? Great! Shaming a kid as punishment? Yes!The school has a few fantastic teachers but it doesn't make up for the rest.Parent Review4y ago8 Reviews - Washington Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe joined Washington just before COVID and the school went fully remote (as required). It was a difficult way to start, and everyone was doing the best they could to adapt. As students returned to campus, the faculty thoughtfully navigated the complexity of reintegrating. Overall, I was impressed. My daughter recently exited 5th grade as a very well-adjusted individual who was performing well in the classroom. We love you Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Baile, and Mrs. Jokela!Parent Review1y ago12 Reviews - Cragmont Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNine out of ten. The school was built In 1999 with seismic Proofing also Ng with great surveillance cameras and security. The PTA is absolutely wonderful and we as parents have been participating and engaged. Parents are educated and great to hang out with. The teaching skills are very acceptable. I really like the melting pot of the students along with the teachers.Parent Review6y ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near 1195 Euclid Ave #1/2.

"It's a very safe neighborhood. Cragmont park and remillard park are great for kids. It's beautiful and hilly so you need to be fit to get around. "

"Dog owners would and do love this neighborhood because there isn’t much traffic, there are many exciting animal smells to sniff—and dog walks are a terrific way to meet nice people quickly and easily."

"Easy, I drive to West Berkeley and it’s typically about 12 minutes to get to work. Driving in the Berkeley hills always calls for caution as there are people and children out on the streets where there aren’t always proper sidewalks. "

"All the wildlife are present - squirrels, cats, deer, turkey to make your dog want to run and chase them away. Rare sightings of coyote in the neighborhood and mid night sounds of wild cats hunting."

"Hills, architecture, parks every where, great city views on walks, a sense of community (which can make people too wary), greenery, lots of dog walking at any hour, nature is so close which is fantastic for bird watching (Cal Falcons, Commodores, etc), deer frolicking all the time, turkey can be seen on their strolls, every house a drive way but most are too small for cars to fit. "Haven't lived in this neighborhood in years, but often go back for friends and family and am always pleased to visit the area. It's green; the architecture is varied by virtue of the topography; stunning views of the City abound and are perfectly centered as this neighborhood is almost due east of the Golden Gate Bridge, which also plays a big role in the neighborhood's wonderful microclimate."
