My experience with GCSD has been a good one so far. My daughter has been going there since 3rd grade, and she's in 10th grade now, and is in their honors class programs. She has motivated her boyfriend to get great grades too- the school fosters learning, and the teachers have seemed very competent thus far!

Our youngest child started his second year of pre-K here and it has been a nightmare ever since. We were misled by the school during our interview with them; the school told us that because our child was advanced academically that he could integrate into the kindergarten class and get a year ahead. We took him out of his private pre-K believing that what we were told was true. During the year, the class reviewed everything that our child had previously done. The school struggled to challenge him academically which led to behavior issues and ultimately him losing knowledge because he spent all of his time playing; he left pre-K with less knowledge than he went in with.While he was there, inadequate supervision was given and our child was left alone long enough for another child to undress and expose their genitalia to the class, discuss shape and colors of it and dress again.Our middle child is special needs and his current teacher takes the stance that parents are incapable of helping with homework so she chooses not to send anything new home with him to work on. He started pre-K there three and a half years ago and is still at a kindergarten level academically yet requests for homework and summer school have been denied.Our oldest child spent half a year at the school. His teacher was unable to describe her grading system and was unwilling to produce a grade book to help us understand why his report card was unpredictable.This school has issues from top to bottom and should be avoided at all cost.Among three children and three and a half years at the school we have only experienced one good teacher who both cares about our children and helps them succeed by presenting achievable challenges and being emotionally supportive of them.

Students recorded my daughter being jumped by 5 other girls in the bathroom. Other students later, reluctantly and afraid of being hurt themselves, and shared other recordings and texts of this replanned jump by a gang of girls. The other girls had been threatened by the bullies to jump them next. I had faith in this school to protect the students so I reassured these other girls if they shared the footage the violence would end. I shared the footage with the school, and they did absolutely nothing. I climbed all the way to top officials and all video and social media footage submissions were ignored. I quoted their own handbook and asked if they were going to protect my child and the other children as threats continued from the bullies. I even got the police involved to protect my child. It came down to this small town and the people over our children’s safety doesn’t have our best interest in mind and they thought the best thing to do was nothing. Even though one audio following the jump stated these girls intended to “stomp my daughters head in”. This is a very violent and scary school since the principals and those in charge of our children’s safety just don’t care. I have now met other parents that have had to take their children also out of this school because of violence. We moved to this small town for the safety a small town could offer, but hiding in this quaint town is a school that brings the Los Angeles gang feel.

I go here and I don't it . The sixth grade teacher Mrs Brewer is mean sometimes.
