This school is pathetic. They are under performing in terms of test scores based on the state average. Colleges use ACT scores to see if students are a fit for their program and high school is supposed to encourage studying for the ACT and help students get prepared. However the ACT prep class in this school sits in the gym all day doing nothing all they do is give books which is a requirement, they don't go over the material in the books just hand it out. This school has no funding, a depressing environment, and no repercussions for bad behavior. I'm not referring towards small things like play fighting, or cussing, getting up without asking; im talking about gang fights, multiple regular fights, and lack of effort. As for the fights the students never receive proper punishment which is expulsion. When a student is in multiple gang fights, skips class, and if they go to class they sleep in it why are they still allowed in the school with a chance of graduation. They also have strict restriction on the web browsers and overall use of the computer as if that will fix anything. Every time you try and look up a website or video that your teacher recommended for the lesson it's banned. Even if you're done with your work there is nothing for you to do besides stare at walls

W. A. Higgins is unlike any other here in Clarksdale, MS. It is neither a perfect school, nor unique in what the school delivers. I do not think that uniforms/ or dressing uniformed makes a school better or the best; however, I think that the student's look nice. I wish that the schools in the CPD all have the wide range of choices. As for MCT2- I'm not an advocate of this test. Many of the teachers are responsible and aware of their students and demand/challenge their students. I have yet to experience a negative side of teachers as of today. I am very sure that there are some concerns from various parents; however, so far it has been a smooth journey for my daughter who is in attendance and an A/ Honor's student. As a educator myself, I understand the issues that can go on in the school. My biggest concern in the entire school district here is the overwhelming use of Teach for America Instructors, of whom I feel are unaware of how to prioritize their classrooms, thus leaving room for unnecessary and avoidable behavior. Higgins students are busy and working hard and if they weren't I would not be so kind in my review, and if things change I will report it.

Stampley is a "Successful" school. Teachers work diligently with every student individually and collectively to assure that each child receives an excellent education. Our goal is to provide an education second to none. As the Principal, I assure that each child is respected, kept safe and is taught on a daily basis. Our learning process is teachers will teach and students will learn. We believe this because we make sure students are taught on their own individual level. Our students are great! They know that I care for them and they care for me. I love seeing them each day as they grow physically as well as academically. They are some of the best behaved, if not the best behaved students in the District. I remind them each day that " the choice is yours and your choice may have consequences." My staff is awesome and I could not ask for a better team of educators. I am also thankful for the parents. When parents know that you care, they don't mind leaving their children with you. Our attendance is good also. Although we have challenges, we are a Great school. Our goal is to become a high performing school this year. With continued efforts and great teaching...
