4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHave had 3 children through the doors of this school, the last as a senior currently. The older two both got into universities, including UF, which is extremely competitive (#5 public university in the US). It's worth noting that in 2012/2013, the school had undergone a complete renovation/rebuild and is a state-of-the-art facility with advanced STEM programs (the Marine Lab is fantastic). The staff has always been extraordinarily responsive and proactive towards the children's education. As of 2025, the school is an "A" rated school... so the 4/10 rating is completely off and likely skewed by older results. The area demographics vary extremely wildly from upper upper income to pverty level- but that doesn't seem to have presented any sort of social stratification within the school. The area in general is fairly peaceful and safe, so this school doesn't see some of the issues that plague larger cities or larger schools. Highly recommend this school. This County (Charlotte) is an "open" school system- meaning, your kids are free to attend any of their public schools, transportation being the limiting factor. Even if we lived on the other side of the harbor I would STILL have found a way to have my kids attend this school.Parent Review4mo ago12 Reviews - L. A. Ainger Middle School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is incredible if you are looking for very good teachers. The only dislike is coach stier, my child always complains on how he favors the girls and is always being creepy. Overall amazing school except that one gym coach.Parent Review1mo ago14 Reviews - Myakka River Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI enrolled my 6-year-old autistic son at Myakka River Elementary after being assured they had the resources and experience to support him. Unfortunately, our experience has been deeply disappointing and stressful. From the start, the school presented an IEP plan that sounded promising—but they have not followed through with it. My son, who had never been suspended before (and attended school in New Jersey without these issues), has been suspended twice in just five months. His behavior has noticeably changed for the worse since starting here, and he’s picked up habits he never had before. To make matters worse, his original teacher left mid-year, and he's had a substitute in the classroom for a significant portion of the school year. The lack of consistency and support has clearly impacted him. This school claimed they were equipped to support a child with autism, but in our experience, they have not met that standard. It feels like they were more interested in enrollment than in truly meeting his needs. If you're a parent of a neurodivergent child, I strongly urge you to ask hard questions, get everything in writing, and proceed with caution. Our family is now looking into advocacy and legal options to make sure our son's educational rights are respected.Parent Review11mo ago13 Reviews - Check out schools near 115 Baytree Dr.

"We live in a beautiful gated deeded community right on the harbor in Port Charlotte. There are 3 boat clubs/yacht clubs in the local area and many activities associated to boating. Charlotte Harbor provides a great resource to Port Chsrlotte. We have newly established parks at the foot of the 41 bridges and walking paths over both bridges - just beautiful. We have Charlotte Harbor beach which few people seem to know about. Immaculate, tennis courts, small swimming pool, and small beach with community buildings and baths, a boat ramp, and easy put in for kayakers. 100s of parking spaces too. It’s a hidden treasure. Still in Port. Charlotte Harbor is the Cape Haze bike trail. It runs for 16 miles in each direction - perfect flat well maintained paved trail with gorgeous animal habitat and bridges across living estuaries full of all kinds of bid species. The list of activities and community events available is too many for this. "

"Ive just moved here in the last year. ive found that most families are either snowbirds or temporary renters. theres not the strong se se of community that you find up north. Most people keep to themselves but once you get out and about and introduce yourself everyone tends to be friendly. The parks are nice. theres lots of children for my son to be friends with from the local school. what little neighbors i do have are all very friendly. since the market has gone up... everything is for sale im happy with the town and the cost of living i.e.the taxes. the only sore spots seem to be tge sewers that they're integrating putting a $12,000 levy on the homes. thats a problem And theres NO SIDEWALKS!! These kids have to walk to tge bustop early in the morning while its still dark out. and its extremely dangerous for them they cannot be visibly seen and can be run over at any given time. those are the only problems i can think ofother than that things are kept tidy police and emergency services are always readily available a nice place to live.
