      "A lot of foot traffic but people walking seem to keep to themselves and pass through. A working class neighborhood where everyone keeps and eye out for each other. "

      "I’ve lived here my whole life. And I have high respect for the police and fire Department they are great help when you need them"

      "We lived in area for 5 years. Very close to bus line, walk to post office, driver's license bureau, grocery, and fast food. Very nice park in walking distance. More traffic than would like but drive to downtown KC is quick and the night life at Sprint Center is great. Neighbors very supportive and watchful for each other. A few rentals in area have been in need of repair but the City of Independence has been very aggressive in making absent landlords keep their property in repair. Independence is also offering TAX ABatements for 20 years for property owners to fix and update their property. Many owners are taking advantage of this offer. This area is very affordable: much more house for less cost."

      "ARea is very accessible to fast food,restaurants, grocery, post office and park. All are within walking distance as well as the busline. Downtown Kansas City is a very quick drive and the nightlife downtown is wonderful. Demographically the area is very diverse. Traffic is heavier than would prefer but shopping, government offices and museums are all close by. Neighbors are involved with their community and block. The City of Independence has a new aggessive policy to go after owners who do not keep up their property by fining them and making them meet standards and codes set by the city. The City of Indepence has also offered tax abatesments for 20 years to owners to repair and/or update their property. These are nice bonuses. Downside is the location of WalMart and Kmart both of which are 10 miles away. However a Dollar General is within walking distance. Good area for those with transportation issues or just starting out."
