I cannot believe how much my third grade grandson “unlearned“ this last year! He transferred in with an IEP, it comes with their records from another school. It was discussed at the first teachers meeting, rediscussed at the end of the first semester, and discussed again and again, get to no avail, no special ed help, no one knows where the records are, so hey! Let’s just test him again says the school! So finally, three weeks before school is out they retest him. Sure enough, he has an IEP! Imagine that! But, having an IEP would not have done any good at the school as they did not have a special ed teacher or anyone even qualified for such! Because this is a small school, grades are doubled up, first and second together third and fourth together and so on. Class sizes are average, and the 20 students per room range. So when it came to learning, if it was too difficult for my grandson, such as learning something important as multiplication or division, let’s just give him a color sheet and he can go sit over there! That’s how you handle an IEP student in the school! If your child’s education is important to you, absolutely do not send them to the school!

We have lived in the district for 20 years. Our oldest daughter graduated from Wanette in 2009. We have had many children attend Wanette school (foreign exchange and foster children) and the school has been great. The current staff is doing a great job to give the students a good education.
