We have attended Gobles public school for 3 years now. Each year my son has faced racism both intentionally and unintentionally. There has been at minimum 4 incidents per year. I have approached several staff including teachers, principles and the superintendent. Our concerns have been met with "the child didn't mean it to be racist" or "I don't think he understands what he's saying" (yet my son, the only black child in the class was approached and called the N word) I have spoken to a few staff at the school about possibly teaching cultural competence and am shot down. Gobles has failed to provide a healthy learning setting.

They treat athletes special, they don't care if they are feeling or struggling in their academics or have behavior issues, certain teachers or staff will go out of their way to undermine parents parenting skills or discipline with their kids. They also let outside interference from X staff members, or parents of other children, they have meetings with your child without you being involved. This is total contradictory to the elementary school. It gets progressively worse from Junior High through High School.
