I was a Rollings Visual Arts student a LONG time ago. I tried out back in 3rd grade for 4th grade and got accepted. They took 4th grade away when I was supposed to start so I started in 1999 for 5th grade and went through 2003.The school was the COOLEST school ever. As if elementary couldn’t have gotten any better, I got to start my first year at Rollings still somewhere between both amazing worlds of elementary and middle school (they didn’t add the “Middle” til the next year). The teachers were the BEST, the number of times we got to walk out of class to support and enjoy student performances, be in one, or just go have fun at the Azalea Festival!!!I got to learn art, and my last year there my painting was put into the Gibbes Museum of Art (2003). Millennium Rollings was so much fun and I couldn’t have asked for more.

This is my first year at Summerville high and I can say without a dought in my mind that this school is awful. There are so many problems when you start looking closer for example, in my pe class for the first 30 minutes of that class we just sit there and it is called our reflection time but the pe teachers just use it as a time so they can talk about random stuff I here them they are talking about food and other none important stuff that I did not sign up for. most of their equipment is either broken or just mangled, for example a week ago when I was grabbing a badminton racket mine was bent out of shape so bad it looked like a potato chip and the school says that they are going to borrow more from another school. and maybe they would not have to do that if they didn't spend so much on the football team. I mean every half year they get a new redone field and new jerseys and pads if even one of them breaks. and they just added the 600 building a couple years ago witch added a bunch of new classes thankfully but they cut anyway that they can for example the food it is just not good the food I scold sometimes or the pizza is just rubber and cheese and I don't even know if it is cheese. and some of the teachers don't even try or they treat us like kinder gardeners and I would love to learn as much as I can there is so much stuff I would like to learn but the school does not offer any of it and the school I always trying to take our money, everyday they have snacks you can buy for like 200% the price. and the prom that is coming up it cost 50$ to join that is so unreasonable and it is most likely going to the football team.

This school is horrible with communication! Not only with parents but within each other!!! That’s just the start! My child went to a school supervisor for help trusting they could not only receive the help for herself but for another student this certain situation was affecting! Upon doing so the school tried punishing my daughter. She did the morally and ethically right thing and got punished! Very harshly! Something that had my child not stepped up and asked for help would have progressively gotten worse minute by minute!!! Your children’s safety is not rightfully fully provided! As for social and emotional support don’t get me started. My child was seeking just that!!! For not only herself but another child affected and was punished very harshly!!! As for learning every request I’ve made to help my daughter’s education from declining has been denied. It’s their way or no way!!!

Great school that puts kids first! FES is the place to BEE!
