The second is that it is of the vintage of like homes in Lead, built between 1895 and 1935, where builders took the time necessary to fashion things from very solid and durable material. These craftsmen were committed to elegant detail in their design and aesthetic appearance. The idea of making every house the same, in order to make more money as fast as possible, hadn’t seemed to enter their minds yet. They were built to last and look lovely, normal wear and tear excepting. Things that water can damage like electric wiring or plumbing and roofs need to be maintained or replaced, but when properly supported the age of a building has no bearing on its comfort, or performance except for superficial appearances which change with the current fashion.
