The elementary school has been the best part of our district. Good leadership. Everyone respects one another. There has been leadership difficulties in the past but there seems to be much improvement over the past couple years.

Parents beware. Afton Middle/High School has been nothing but a thorn in the sides of most of the parents whose children attend it. The way they address bullying does NOT correct the issue nor do they take reports of bullying seriously even though they "preach" anti-bullying non-stop. When a report is given the administration often waits over a week to address it allowing more time for issues to fester and get worse or put a student in jeopardy. They have even neglected to notify parents when something involving their child happens! When they DO happen to hold a student to the code of conduct it seems to only apply to the student (as long as they aren't from one of the well known or wealthy families in town) but then the administration is allowed to break the code of conduct "when they deem it necessary" and don't bother with going to the board of education as the elected officials only care about what benefits their own children and use their money and status to push their weight around. I have heard multiple complaints of students being strip searched. One instance was where a teenage girl was searched in a closed office in front of 3 MEN. No women were present. I could go on and on about different things that have happened that would have any other school firing officials but the list would never end. Do yourself a favor if you move to this school district. Pay to have your child go to Bainbridge or Greene or homeschool if you have the ability to. This school will break your childs spirit and do what they can to ignore the victims until the victims become the perpetrators due to no support.
