We are renting the main unit of a house in the lower Westbrae section of Berkeley. It is close to great shops and stores, and transportation options.
The rental unit is on the second floor of a two-story stucco house on a corner lot. On the first floor, there is a garage and a small apartment which is ocupied by the owner.
The house has a large open-plan living room, dining area and kitchen, arranged in an L-shape from the south to west sides, allowing lots of light through the day. There are three bedrooms of various size on the east side, and the bathroom is on the north side. There is a mud room/pantry with a back door opening onto a deck next to the kitchen.
You will have use of the second-floor deck, and shared use of a ground-level patio and a garden with fruit trees, flowering shrubs and vegetable beds.
The house was lifted in 2010 and it sits on a new, seismically secure foundation and 2x6 framing. The gas meters for this and the neighboring house have seismic safety shut-off valves.
Features include:
Hardwood floors throughout, with marmoleum in the kitchen
Warm floors: quiet and comfortable radiant heat
A gas stove in the living room with a blower for supplemental heat on cool mornings and evenings
A front-loader washing machine and dryer in the garage (shared)
Hangers in garage for two bicycles
Ample street parking with no permits or meters
Gas Wedgewood stove with vent hood, refrigerator, butcher block prep surface, and plenty of drawer and cabinet space. There is an optional rolling dish washer.
Walking distances: Five minutes to the "Gilman District" (Whole Foods, and breweries), 12 minutes to North Berkeley BART and Monterey Market, 20 minutes to Solano Avenue
AC Transit bus lines on Cedar and San Pablo are a block away.
Highway 80 is less than a mile away.
The rent includes all utilities, including high-speed Comcast internet.
You will need to furnish current rental and employment references. The lease will be for six months up to one year, and then can be extended or changed to month-to-month basis upon mutual agreement.
