"Great neighborhood, small town feel with lots of great stuff near by, plus the beach is a 10 minute drive. Crime is low and access to the beach is great, it’s like Florida was 25 years ago except with better amenities and great air conditioning "
  • Seth F.
"Neighbors are very friendly. You are close to all major attractions in the area yet still feel like you live in the countryside (lots of privacy!). So many dogs!"
  • Nicole D.
"I don’t commute as I work from home. Bridges can cause delays if you’re in a hurry to get somewhere. "
  • Lbegando
"Growing up with the beach as your playground is an amazing way of life. The people are friendly and there is always something to do!"
  • Jim
"Friendly low key beach vibe, not hip, more old school. Light traffic, good roads. Plenty of good local restaurants and beach bars. Public beaches are beautiful and well groomed by the city. Great intercostal for kayak or paddle board. Fishing and crabbing are first rate."
  • Bill
"still uncrowded and affordable. Becoming more cosmopolitan but has a way to go. Beautiful surroundings. "
  • Andrew R.
"I lived here for many years and everything is in walking distance. The island is clean, safe, family and pet friendly. This house is perfectly located to the beach, parks, shopping, dining, entertainment and public transportation including free beach rides up and down the beaches. Treasure Island is still a small town and not overrun by huge hotels and condos, a great place to live."
  • Dana B.
"Five years ago when we were relocated to the area we stumbled up Treasure Island and all of the wonderful beach, restaurants, shopping, music it has to offer. Isle of Palms is a wonderful community where people are friendly and welcoming."
  • Matthew C.
"I stayed in the Heron's Landing condo on Isle of Palms a couple of years ago, and it has a newer dock (constructed around 2007). Once we parked our car in the parking lot, we rarely used the car again, choosing instead to either walk to our destination via the beach prominade (paved multi-use trail), or bicycle to destinations east over the Treasure Island Causeway and then on to the Pinellas Trail. It's a short 2 blocks to the beach, and an easy walk or bike ride to Publix grocery store, Walgreens, the bank, a book store, etc. We also enjoyed the bike ride to the Health Food Store on Central Avenue, and the Pinellas Trail bike route to Tyrone Mall, Walmart, and Target. We started making a game out of "lowering our carbon foot print" and even took the Beach Bus (from the nearby bus stop) to St. Pete Beach one day, then caught another bus to downtown St. Pete to see the Pier, the Fine Arts Museum, and the downtown Beach Drive waterfront area. Though we didn't have a "big boat" to park in the deep water boat slip that came with the condo, we used the dock to launch our peddling-paddling kayak, and enjoyed paddling to the Mangrove Island rookeries, and spoil islands in Upper Boca Ciega Bay Estuary near John's Pass. Awesome birdwatching paddle, especially during nesting time at the northern-most mangrove rookery. We loved the John's Pass waterfront so much on our paddle, we also found a back roads bicycle route to get to a pretty waterfront park at John's Pass where we liked to do dolphin watching and catch the sunset. Lazy us, even though the beach is only 2 blocks away, we commonly watched fireworks displays from the condo's front balcony (the condo is 2 blocks from the beach, but we could easily see the fireworks displays that seemed to come from behind the Bilmar. Though we're "older folks," when the wind was from the southwest and we heard the beat of the monthly drum circle, we felt compelled to walk the beach south and join it! Loved living there."
