The original section of this home was constructed in 1807 and has been expanded several times including a shop built around 1869. The dry goods store closed in 1971 and has been incorporated into the residence with a tasteful renovation by the current owners. Upon entering the home in the entrance hall you ascend a few steps into the spacious living room with built-in bookshelves. Next is the dining room with two corner cabinets and a gas fireplace. The eat-in kitchen has been updated and there is a laundry room/pantry in the rear of the first floor. Upstairs is the master bedroom suite with private bath, dressing area and office and gas fireplace. There is a second bedroom suite with a bath and a separate den. The third floor has two additional bedrooms and another full bath. The entire home has beautiful wood floors, original doors and hardware and wood trim. Outside is a large, landscaped yard and private brick patio. This beautiful home is only steps away from the Delaware River, New Castle Courthouse and Town Hall. There are great views out the front of the house of the cobblestone street and The Green. The present owners extensively renovated the house in 2000, including the gas heat and adding central air.
