Our property is exceptionally beautiful with world class privacy and sunsets. The beveled cedar ranch style house is 1,400 sq. ft., three bedrooms or two bedrooms and an office. A sun room with deck opens into living/dining area with wood burning stove. Large patio leading into screened in porch, all with southern exposure. There is a large laundry room with sink, and a large utility room with shelving. Large windows throughout overlook Old US 31, Lake Michigan, and Little Traverse Bay with a view of Beaver Island (26 miles away).

The guest house is approximately 50’ from the main house and was stick built in 2000. It has 1,800 sq. ft. in two stories and is sided with cedar sheets. Downstairs has a large workroom/gallery and an extra large kitchen with huge windows on three sides. A half bath/utility space is off the kitchen. Upstairs is a very large living room and bedroom with a full bath.

Close to Charlevoix, Petoskey, Boyne City, and Harbor Springs. Hayes Township now has a 20 acre (1800’ frontage) on Lake Charlevoix as well as access to Lake Michigan. Beautiful, well maintained bike path ¼ mile from property runs along Lake Michigan.


The property was purchased by us in 1988 and was originally 7+ acres (5 wooded hills and valleys) and in 1993 we added the 5 acre pastureland property adjacent to us. A private 1000’ drive runs from Maple Grove Road to the dwellings. The entire property enjoys abundant wildlife and wildflowers.

    "The Susan Shores Subdivision of Hayes Township in Charlevoix County is located in the Lower Peninsula of Northwestern Michigan. Housing construction in Susan Shores, which is on the Western Shore of Susan Lake, is mixed and generally consists of single family homes on small (1) acre lots. Susan Shores residents are generally couples with school aged children. Comparatively, homes on the Eastern Shore of Susan Lake along Mulberry Lane are generally larger, up to ten acre estates bordering conserved lands and are part of a private home owners association that includes a horse corral. However, there is no home owners association in Susan Shores. The closest major cross street intersection is (Scenic Route M31 along Lake Michigan), and (C56-Boyne City Road). The largest cities nearby (driving) are downtown Charlevoix (5 minutes), Bay Harbor (15 minutes), Petoskey (22 minutes), Boyne City (17 minutes), Harbor Springs (35 Minutes), and Mackinaw Island (1 hour). Pellston Regional Airport in Petoskey (30 minutes) provides charter flight services to and from Detroit and Chicago. Susan Lake, though comparatively small to other lakes in the area, is well known by the local residents to contain a healthy population of small mouth bass, crappies, and northern pike for the warm water sport fishing enthusiast, but is still a secret to outsiders. Susan Lake sees little boat traffic in the Summer (affording a slight measure of greater water safety for smaller children because of the lesser boat traffic). Many Susan Lake residents like to take their pontoon boats out to the middle of the lake to swim, and also swim off anchored rafts."
