About this House
SIDE B WITH 1470 SQUARE FEET
When you purchase a home, do you like becoming part of the community? Sometimes owning a home is more than having a place to rest your head and to store your possessions. For some individuals, they want more than a roof over their heads. They want a unique home with historical significance. They want a home rooted in the community’s history and want to help preserve that history. If this is striking a cord with you, keep reading!
The former Peterson Clinic, designed by the noted architect, L. G. Knipe, opened its doors to Marfa community on May 11, 1930. This clinic was critically needed, and a welcome addition to the town. While the rest of the nation was recovering from the Great Depression, Marfa was looking forward with a new building program. In addition, in that same year, the War Department transferred the Army Air Drome property to the City of Marfa.
Meticulously renovated with superior building workmanship, the Peterson Clinic is now two beautiful, modern townhomes. Each townhome has two bedrooms, and two bathrooms.
What does meticulously renovated mean? Completely clearing the interior and installing all new interior walls. This allowed for the installation of new plumbing, new electrical wiring, new doors, and new windows (interior wood, exterior clad metal, double paned). Retaining the original 8" exterior walls of cast concrete and gypsum block, the exterior of the building was finished with an elastomeric paint to withstand the West Texas climate.
The kitchen boasts of new kitchen cabinets, along with new appliances, and includes a washer and a dryer. The remodeled baths include one bath with a tub/shower combination, while the second bath incorporates a large shower. The ceilings are 9-foot throughout for a spacious feeling. A fenced parking area, which pets might enjoy, is located at the back of each home.
With the perfect location, only a half block off Highland Avenue, it has easy access to all of the attractions located in the center of Marfa. These townhomes could be a primary residence, a long-term rental, or a vacation rental. Everything is in immaculate condition and move-in ready.
