"It’s a beautiful, quiet town with lots of families. Lots of trails and outdoor activities to enjoy nature. "
  • Saraegent
"There are many families in the area, as well as some older couples and a few vacation homes. Everyone is so kind and It is a wonderful place to live or raise a family."
  • Nicole A.
"I’m not too impressed with Hawthorne. It needs more businesses. It’s nice that it’s only 15 minutes or so away from many different cities... Gainesville,Melrose,Micanopy..."
  • Willardrathomas
"It’s quiet but the train is annoying. The houses aren’t too close and the school is walking distance for the kids. "
  • Nicole A.
"Small area little for kids to do. I believe it’s a pretty safe place. I do not however, consider the people in this area very friendly "
  • Nicole A.
"I’m new to the area and I can’t say I like it here. Looking to move soon. This city has next to nothing and the neighbors are not friendly "
  • Denise K.
"I have lived here for years and if you love the country and are still close to the bigger city's this is the place "
  • Denise K.
"friendly people, country living but still close enough to be in 4 lg towns with in 30mins . Children can play and walk alone and everyone watches out for each other "
  • Gail N.
"I moved here from out of state a year and a half ago. I love it here, its quiet and peaceful. It's a very inexpensive place to live in and utilities are cheap as well . Lots of stores and shopping but you will need a car. The only downside is the streets are dirt and will probably stay that way and the county really needs to grade more often. "
  • Gail N.
"Many people just let their dogs run loose. Not very smart. I'm not sure if people actually care about their pets very much. On the other hand there isnt a whole lot of regulation governing pet ownership."
  • Alan Symonette
"People respect each others property. If you like to be left alone then this is the place. My dogs keep strangers away. ] '"
  • Kelly D.
"Commute is by car or carpool only, usually to Gainesville (25 mins) Ocala (40 mins) Palatka (35 mins) or Starke (25 mins)"
  • Giles a. S. K.
"We love our acre, pool and gardens! Hearing a rooster crow off in the distance. Birds singing in the abundant trees. Respectful neighbors are a treasure!!!"
  • ode2writing
"The town has lots of political and social issues (history of unscrupulous leaders). It lost its police station and fire dept and farmers/craft Saturdays. There is absolutely no culture. There is definite a drug problem that people don't like to talk about. Unscrupulous types hang out at the one park, so residents don't frequent it. Hawthorne is the place where time stood still -- 50 years ago."
