Moved out of Glencoe after spending my freshman and sophomore years there, and let me warn any parents, pick another school to send your child to. Although the main entrance looks very impressive and new, the interior where 80% of the classrooms are located are windowless, too warm, too cold, or generally uncomfortable. The design is very old, and very crowded at passing times, and the bathrooms are vandalized nearly daily, and always smell of weed. If you're lucky, you might walk in on one of various groups smoking in the bathrooms, who seemingly go unpunished. I have even seen entire stalls get demolished. Almost all of the language classes at Glencoe have been cancelled. I believe that the only other language available at Glencoe is Spanish, while they used to have German, French, Japanese and I think even Russian in the past. Many of the vertical stairways have severe water stains and gum everywhere, and some Advanced Placement classrooms have the worst placement in the entire building, such as the AP Human Geography classroom, a common introductory class to Advanced Placement, which is only about seven feet tall, has no windows, and has much of the building's ventilation systems connected right above it.Even though there are great supports for special education students and students with IEPs, I still would not recommend this school for them. Their "Pathway Center" is only about two classrooms in size and does not have nearly enough tables, and they have to use other classrooms as more space for seating. For people with general social anxiety, or just want quiet, this place is also not for you.Overall, I rate this school 1.5/5, they could do so much better.

This school was pretty horrible. The teachers there don’t have any to no compassion they treat you like you don’t have anything to do in life besides school. There is also so much fighting and violence that take place there and not many of the staff make us feel safe and protected in this school.

My grandson was going there for over a year and things were going ok and when this school year started there began to be struggles with other peers and for whatever reason, the staff starting with the principal and counselor began putting all the blame on my grandson and making it all to be his fault in every situation and so the teachers started to follow in line with them. They then would suspend him from school for 3 days at a time over whatever incident occurred and they did this several times from September-April. Finally, instead of just suspending him this time, they said they didn't want him coming back next year!! Talk about pushing a child out of your school.....my grandson has always been liked at his school when he went elsewhere, the teachers all loved him, I don't see how this kind of banishment is helpful to a 10 year old. They seem nice to your face, but behind the scenes they are ravenous wolves waiting to tear apart any child they deem "a bad kid"! Do Not let these people teach or care for your children, your children deserve better.
