My experience with this school was extremely disappointing. As the parent of a child with special needs, I felt that my concerns and opinions were not taken seriously. My son was doing well in general education, but the school decided to move him into a special education classroom. After the change, he began struggling significantly. He started having accidents at school, including peeing on himself, even though these issues were not happening at home.I asked the school to wait until the following school year before making any additional placement changes so we could see if things improved, but they refused. Instead, they wanted to move him into an even more restrictive special education classroom. My son is verbal, independent in many daily activities, helps care for his younger siblings, and does not display these behaviors at home. I felt the school focused only on its own recommendations rather than working collaboratively with our family or considering our perspective.Because I no longer believed the placement was in my son’s best interest, I made the difficult decision to withdraw him from the school. Every child is different, but based on my experience, I would encourage parents to ask lots of questions, understand their rights in the special education process, and make sure they feel heard before agreeing to major placement decisions. Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience here.
