8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNew to this school + State! We went on a lot of school tours around the area and was very impressed with Lincoln. Once August started we immediately started volunteering with their PTSA Team. Everyone was so welcoming and helped answer any questions needed. You can tell there is a strong community here of teachers, staff and parents. I’m impressed as too how long a lot of the teachers have been at Lincoln and are happy to be here. These teachers really care about their subject and know exactly how to teach individual students. Lincoln’s Theater Program was the highlight to our year. Amazing production crew and support from our Lincoln Community. WOW! They really take this program seriously and have lots of rehearsals. They are the example of PASSION! You can feel it! You can see it! Parents are allowed to get involved at school which is a PLUS in my book! There are so many ways to be involved like helping with events, fundraising, student store, parent eyes during lunchtime. There are meetings that you can attend - General PTSA for updates, DEIA, Resources, etc. Information is spread through their site, weekly newsletters, robo text messages, in school signage and social platforms. Most importantly, everyone is welcome, involved and included. Thank you for having this special place for all.Parent Review1y ago17 Reviews - Roosevelt Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe community handbook, which all families are required to read and sign, lacks any concrete action plans regarding discipline, tiered consequences, dress code violations, or bullying. It's as if a bright-eyed naive grad student wrote it with all their ideals of what education can be (we're a community! there's no bullying because we're all kind!). This might sound fine, but it means there's zero accountability among students, teachers, or staff. When I've volunteered on campus, I've heard students yell the F word without reprimand, students blatantly skipping class, and the older girls are dressed like a Victoria's Secret PINK ad, with midriffs exposed and butt cheeks hanging out (but hey, you can't see their underwear, which is the "rule," only because they obviously aren't wearing any!). There is academic testing, but results do not impact curriculum in any way. My child tested beyond the kindergarten standards in September, but the school never discussed differentiated learning or accommodations to prevent boredom. When I requested a digital copy of these test scores for private school applications, I waited weeks before receiving a response. Admin and specialist teachers absolutely hope you just "forget" they didn't reply to your email.Halloween.... the biggest red flag that made me question our school choice! The school has written costume policies distributed to all families, yet the schoolwide Halloween parade was shocking. Weapons (guns, machetes, knives, etc.) and gore (lots of fake blood) were permitted, and multiple students (including a teacher!) wore extremely graphic masks, wore the nametags of serial killers, and entire groups of 5th grade girls dressed as Playboy bunnies. Administration did nothing during the parade, and when I emailed Dr. O directly that afternoon, I never received a response. My final straw was during the parent picnic, in which a child dropped their lunch tray and began to sob. Multiple children helped clean up and get new food, but our teacher came to me and said, "wow, your child really works up those crocodile tears." I was flabbergasted. Not only was that the least empathetic comment, but that wasn't even my child. I thus learned that the teacher who had spent months with my child couldn't tell the students apart. You will be pressured to donate a min. $900 to the district, $400 to PTA, and at least $100 to your classroom fund, which is for mostly teacher gifts and staff gift pools.Parent Review2w ago34 Reviews - Santa Monica High School

"Being a dog owner myself, I appreciate that I’m close to the beach, there’s many places that are walkable. What I did not like was that there’s too much construction and it would startle my puppy."

"it is a good area to walk a dog but it is not safe because of a lot of mentally ill people living on the curbs or at Reeds Park. it is a shame that this area used to be very nice, but now it is deteriorating very fast. over all it is not safe to walk after sunset."

"I love the small town feel even in LA and being on the coast makes the weather a huge plus, as well as adds that beach community feel to the neighborhood. It’s cute and quaint while still being a very happening part of town."

"Fresh Air from the Pacific Ocean, wide streets, trees, flowers and friendly neighbors. Closeness to all shops, restaurants and public transportation makes it easy to get around to shop. Cleanliness of neighborhood. There is city noise like occasional garbage trucks and ambulances during the day, but not in the evening or night. Safe. Sightings of occasional harmless homeless person might be disturbing to some."
