3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is by far, the most horrible school I have ever encountered. The faculty and staff are not in communication with one another and never know what is going on, who to even refer me to when there is an issue. Do not count on them doing anything that they are actually required to do, such as fixing attendance when you bring in Doctors notes, etc. This school is practically a place to just go and buy drugs and do them. There are fights nearly everyday. Half of the teachers are uncertified, and just spend the day at their desk, while instructing the children to do their work online. The teachers do not care if your children do not do the work, as they are allowed to listen to music, play on their phones, and sleep in class. They will send your child home for wearing a hoodie in the middle of winter (while in the schools policy book it clearly states that they are allowed to wear any kind of jacket as long as it's not red or blue (because, I guess the students here also think they are in gangs!) My daughter was always an honor roll. To make matters even worse, I decided to remove her from this school and put her in another school in another city. It took the staff at ESJ ONE MONTH to get her transcripts sent over because they principal did not enter her grades into the system when the school board asked her to do so. Finally I had to make several in person visits to the school, demanding they send the transcript (all the while they tell me over the phone to not come in, that they will get it handled! Now my daughter has had to start and you semester a month behind and does not know any of the work at the new school! She is now in danger of failing ALL classes for this semester!Parent Review2y ago7 Reviews - Laplace Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think that this school provides the best education abd communication that it possibly could with the resources that it have. There is NO perfect situation. Parental support needs to happen more often with a collaborative and positive impact. Instead of blame gaming and finger pointing. Parental and educational support for Parents is needed in our Community badly. Community elaboration, School Board members, and staff ideas and SUPPORT are also important. Laplace Elementary is structured in the community and Community Involvement is NECESSARY for its Success.Other Review2y ago8 Reviews - Check out schools near 101 Ormond Blvd #1.

"I would describe my commute as at least 10 minute drives to anywhere because the neighborhood is so cramped and chaotic. "

"Quiet place to live but not a lot to do especially for kids. Lots of families. Definitely moving due to the poor schools. "

"The community events that we have in our neighborhood usually are food fundraisers for needy families or ill or tragic close ones. Night Out Against Crime is a big one"

"It’s a neighborhood that has one street that’s really quiet and barely floods. It’s a nice area. The neighbors are quiet and don’t bother anyone. They also take care of their homes and yards. "

"Nice place to live in the Belle Terre sub-division of LaPlace. There is an active Civic Association (Belle Terre Civic Association - BTCA). We have lived in the area for over 10 years...never any trouble personally...always a few crimes here and there...but we work hard to keep the community nice. Nice related neighborhoods around most of Belle Terre...golf courses throughout Belle Terre and boardering. No real traffic...but LaPlace is basically a bedroom community for Metairie, New Orleans...and even towards Baton Rouge. Good Catholic schools nearby....public schools are truly improving but still need some work. Recreation in the area is somewhat lacking...but there if you look for it. Some of Belle Terre area homes flooded in the last Hurricane...but first time Belle Terre ever flooded...not all homes flooded (mine did not and only one on my street did...). Give Belle Terre a good look before buying elsewhere...."
